In order to facilitate easier troubleshooting of technical issues, we have begun using TeamViewer as a remote assistance tool. What this does is allow a qualified Tech Support Specialist to control your computer remotely, to walk you through a solution to your problem, or simply fix the problem as you sit back and relax.
The TeamViewer QuickSupport application can be downloaded
here.
Q: Does this have to be installed to work?A: No installation is required, just run the application.
Q: Do I need to be an Administrator to use this?A: TeamViewer does not require administrative rights.
Q: How secure is this?A: TeamViewer is a very secure solution. It features completely secure data channels with key exchange and AES (256 Bit) session encoding, the same security standard used by https/SSL. A new password is assigned each time you run the program, so no one can connect to you more than once without a new password.
Q: Does this contain viruses, keyloggers, etc?A: No, the program itself is not made by anyone related to the modding community. You can get all the details at
www.teamviewer.com if you are still unsure. The download link is directed to their download off their server.
Q: I have Dial-up. Can I still use this?A: Whether you have a LAN or dial-up connection, TeamViewer optimizes display quality and speed depending on your network connection.
Q: I have a firewall. How do I configure it?A: If you use TeamViewer you don't have to worry about firewalls. TeamViewer will find a route automatically.
Q: What if I need a file to fix my issue?A: TeamViewer comes with integrated file transfer that allows you to copy files and folders to and from a remote partner - which also works behind firewalls.
Q: How much does this cost?A: TeamViewer is FREE for non-commercial use (as in we don't do this as a business).
Q: How can I make sure the person connecting to my computer isn't someone else?A: All of our Support Specialists have registered usernames in the TeamViewer Database, so if it says it's The Proffessor in TeamViewer, it
is The Proffessor.
Also, as a quick rule,
NEVER reveal your TeamViewer ID or password to the public. Simply PM that info to the support personnel. Also, make sure that they are online, as they will not connect to a computer without the person being there, unless specifically instructed to do so.
