Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

Is there a working PMG to MQO Converter?
« on: July 30, 2012, 05:28:42 pm »
I am currently trying to change the appearance of my spirit weapon for Mabinogi, but I am having the (common?) issue of the ego's glow being misplaced.  After some previous searching on the forums, I found that I need to edit the .pmg file in Metaseq, which requires conversion to MQO.  This, however, is impossible for me right now, as I can't find a working PMG to MQO Converter (the only one that I did find, which was on the Epvp site, was declared a repost, and the download link did not allow access).  Does anyone happen to know of a fully functional download site for this converter, or of another method that I may use to fix my ego glow's displacement? Any, and all, help would be greatly appreciated. ^^

-Saoru

P.S. I apologize if this is in the wrong forum section; I'm actually new to the mabimod forums (I have read the rules, though)

Somebody actually read the rules, well I'll be darned... Just for that, I will go and find you what you're looking for.

No promises though, it's been a LONG time since we had somebody working on MQOs.

I can not verify if the files are the right ones you want, or even if they are clean.  I looked around, and I found, I did not test it, or even scan it.
Use at your own risk, and scan them beforehand if you wish, I've given you fair warning.

I've put it up on my mediafire for you, if you wish to take a look at what I managed to get my hands on.

Good luck and I hope this is what you wanted, I honestly don't know.

Would the glow even be on the PMG? I'd assume that'd be in an effect XML somewhere. I'm not completely sure though.

I always thought it was a DDS, honestly.

However, means to convert was asked for, I tried my hand at it, and posted what I found.

The glow effect is in the effect XML.  However, in order to find the correct coordinates for this XML, in order to place the ego glow where it is supposed to be, it requires finding the coordinates via Metaseq (at least, for an easier method), or so I've heard from other forums from other people.

Thank you for your help. ^^ It seems that it would have been the program I was looking for.  Unfortunately, it's not fully functional, as all it does is quickly open and close a command prompt.  Fortunately, however, there weren't any viruses that came with it.

So, I may just have to experiment with Mabinogi a bit, changing the XYZ coordinates as I go, until they match up with the ego weapon again. Shouldn't be too difficult. That is, if I can even find the [weapon name]_ego.xml file to begin with. x.x

If you're just reading or doing minor editing, the PMG Editor in the files section should work fine.

As for running the pmg2mqo, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a command line program to begin with. But either way, don't call it incomplete because the console closes without you investigating why. Simply open command prompt and drag and drop the exe into it to find out why it's closing. If it doesn't say anything try adding /? after for help (with a space between the filename and that, of course).

And yeah, looking over readme_conv.txt, it says it's a console program. You have to run:
pmg2mqo file.pmg file.frm

Basically same for the other one:
mqo2pmg file.mqo file.frm

Though bear in mind it says (auto-translated):
Quote
Constraint
Vertex information of the joint connection is not generated and erased
The square face is not supported

As an aside: nnn, basically all of my tools are going to be command line, I wonder if I should write a guide on how to use the command line since no windows user knows how to. ><

I see..... Sorry about that. ^^; From past experience with other programs, I just assumed it wasn't going to work, period, not that it was incomplete, it just wasn't functioning.  I'm not that great at these kinds of things to begin with, so if something like this occurs, to me, it's just the program not being capable of working (whether it's due to my own computer or not).

Either way, I'll try the methods that you posted, and see if anything changes.  Right now, I've just been changing the offsets, which has been working so far, but it's painful having to constantly open and close Mabinogi to test it.

Edit: So, I tried utilizing the provided converters (which I assume I had actually done correctly this time around), but they still had not managed to actually convert the files.  As for the PMG Editor, it doesn't assist in fixing the ego's glow on the weapon being displaced, unfortunately. e.e

I'm not entirely sure what you're looking for on the PMG anyway. I kind of doubt the offset is on the same coordinate system. Though I'm not sure why I doubt that, past experience seeded into my memory and long forgotten, I imagine.

Also, the conversion works fine for me:
Code: [Select]
plone@cakes:pmg2mqo-featherwind$ wine pmg2mqo.exe data/gfx/char/human/female/mantle/female_robe_wolf01.pmg data/gfx/char/human/female/female_framework.frm
 pmg2mqo   copyright(c) 2007 gleentea
      source : data/gfx/char/human/female/mantle/female_robe_wolf01.pmg
 destination : data/gfx/char/human/female/mantle/female_robe_wolf01.mqo
 convert success
Ignore the "wine" part, running it on linux.

Anyway yeah I'd suggest taking some screenshots to see how much a difference of 1 moves things so you can better estimate the appropriate location.
