This works for both 32bit and 64bit version of windows, as well as for windows 7 and XP
Follow this guide for downloading and running the PMG Editor.
So that no longer is there problems with finding the PMG Editor, and getting it to work, this thread should be pinned
The PMG Editor is the best tool that the NA community, and as far as we know, the KR/TW/JP communities have for editing pmg's without major problems.
The problem is that there is minimal or mostly unhelpful English guides or steps for getting the PMG Editor working.
What's worse, is as far as the public knew, you couldn't have the PMG Editor run on a computer running a 64bit version of Windows, which is becoming an increasing problem as the market is quickly changing to 64bit systems and support for them is rising.
The great thing about Java is that there is versions for most of the current operating systems used today, including Linux and Mac OSX, of course I can't cover using the PMG Editor with those systems because I myself do not have one to test the editor on.
How about we get to getting the PMG Editor and getting it to run.
Mabinogi Underground was the original place to get the translated version of the editor, until some things happened. From then until now myself and other people "in the know" on that forum wouldn't directly give info on exactly how to get the editor, seeing as how it was post here on MabiMods. Now though, I have direct links to a separate host at the bottom of this info post/thread, both on Mabinogi Underground and MabiMods, even though the editor is hosted here.
Get the editor and extract the folder inside to, wherever you like, the desktop is preferred. You will need a program that can open RAR files, suggested program is found at
http://www.rarlabs.com although you can use
http://7-zip.org if you want. You will also need it to open the majority of files downloaded both on this forum, and other places around the internet.
Now you will need to get the Java Runtime Environment from Sun.
Before beginning the download steps, uninstall any version of the Java Runtime Environment or Java Development Kit, if you do not, you could run into problems later on, for both using the PMG Editor, and for running other Java applications.
Go here for the JRE. Should that link not get you to the page to select the version of the JRE and to download it, then use
this link to get to the main page for downloading the JRE as well as some other not relevant files. Click the download button under the header of "Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE)," make sure not to download the bundles unless you really think you will need the extra stuff for some other project later on. On the download page select the version for "Windows" not the one for "Windows Intel Itanium" or "Windows x64," this is important for both those people running a 32bit version of windows and a 64bit version, both must download the 32bit version of the JRE, doing otherwise will cause problems on both systems. Go ahead and install the JRE, best to install to default location as makes guide easier to follow, if you have space issues on the default drive, you can install the JRE on a different drive, but unless you need to install on another drive, don't change the default folder.
Now, go to the folder you installed the JRE into and go to the jre\bin folder, if installed into the default location, you should be in:
For 32bit versions of windows:
C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\
For 64bit versions of windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\
Leave these folders open. Open a new window and browse to where you extracted the PMG Editor.
Inside the PMG Editor folder you will find a folder named "Dlls," open this folder and select all the dll's inside. Copy those dll's and paste them into the previously opened folder for the JRE.
You can now close the window for the JRE.
Back inside the PMG Editor folder there will be 2 .bat files. One named "run.bat" and one named "run2.bat"
You can edit either one, but it is suggested to edit the one named "run2.bat" as this one gives errors for missing files. Open "run2.bat" with notepad or other simple text editor, do NOT use Word or Wordpad.
If using a 32bit version of Windows, which you should have established when I had you go to the folder that the JRE was installed to copy all of the following info inside of the code box into "run2.bat" and save.
"C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Djava.util.logging.config.file=logging.properties -cp .;lib/jme.jar;lib/jme-awt.jar;lib/jinput.jar;lib/lwjgl_test.jar;lib/lwjgl_util_applet.jar;lib/lwjgl_util.jar;lib/lwjgl.jar GUI
If using a 64bit version of Windows, copy all of the following info inside of the code box into "run2.bat" and save.
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -Djava.util.logging.config.file=logging.properties -cp .;lib/jme.jar;lib/jme-awt.jar;lib/jinput.jar;lib/lwjgl_test.jar;lib/lwjgl_util_applet.jar;lib/lwjgl_util.jar;lib/lwjgl.jar GUI
That is, if you installed the JRE into the default folders for your version of windows.
If you decide to edit "run.bat" all you must do is change, in the above codeboxs, to "javaw.exe"
Save the files.
Now double click the bat file you want, if it works, well, go read the stuff in the guide section, if not, post here with info on what is wrong, a screenshot of the error would be a good idea. Make double sure that you have checked and done all steps before posting about an error. I would prefer if people ask for support on Mabinogi Underground as that is my home and where I check most often, although I will still check here and help when I can just the same.
Now for the download links. Megaupload link is on my own account, so unless I decide to screw everyone, they won't ever be removed by me. Tinyupload link stays there for however long they host it.
https://mabimods.net/index.php?action=tpmod;dl=get541I don't personally give support for this anymore. If it isn't working for you after doing exactly what I said to do, and not only doing part of it, you are out of luck with me. Too many of you don't understand the basics of using a cmd prompt which is needed to be known. Things don't go into system32, never needed to, that is why I never said to put them there. Be happy there are people here who will help with this guide, but I don't understand why it was made a sticky.
