Where to level pets?

What locations do you train your pet in, and are they level specific (i.e. Ciar dungeon from level one to eight, etc.); or certain monsters you focus on the most to attack?

actually from 1-about-15 i do my pet training at alby then ciar from 16-25

I've been able to level pets from 1-20, maybe more from black tailed mongooses with titles.

I was training a persons Griffin earlier, and it was easy killing burgundy bears (3+1 or Smash then fly and redo) in Taillteann by the graveyard. I get around 700 per kill, but it takes a bit of time. It's currently 20, so I'm going to have to do a bit of grinding to get it anywhere between 30-40 if I want to do it fast. So would Mongooses/Ciar still be the best option?

Mongooses are ~1k or so per. But you have to remember to kill the ones with titles.

How much xp is gained if the pet's out when you kill a mob on your char?  I was thinking, it might be useful to just make it sit while i kill a few desert bears.

That's exactly what I do... sit the pet down, go kill a black desert bear, stand the pet up, go find another black desert bear, repeat...

i just have one follow me around in cair   and they level every now and then

I always take it with me in rundal hardmode....I wanna get my little guardian spider up and like 5 rooms or so and he was already level 10 or so o.o;

the exp you get = the exp your pet gets

also, if your in a party a pet will NOT reduce the total amount of xp gained. no matter what the sharing rule is

example:
you go do ciar alone, while there are 3 other players in your party (but not in the dungeon)
-you kill a goblin -> goblin gives exp
-exp gets divided by 4 (because theres 4 people in the party, including yourself)
-only you get the exp, since the others are "too far away" to recieve the exp. it stays divided tho

another example:
you do ciar with a pet summoned, there are 3 other players in your party (not in the dungeon). 2 of these others also have pets out
-you kill a goblin -> goblin gives exp
-exp gets divided by 4 (you + the 3 other players, pets do not count for division)
-you get the exp (even tho it stays divided)
-your pet gets the same amount of exp you got
-other players don't get exp, since they are too far away
-their pets don't get exp either, since their masters don't get any

ps: you can summon a pet and make it sit at the entrance of the dungeon, since it gets the same amount of exp you get. as long as your character gets the exp your summoned pet gets it as well, therefore only you need to be in "range" of the exp

pps: if you didnt know yet, exp has a range limit for players (being 3-4 rooms big). if your player isn't in that range limit you won't get the exp. this was implemented to prevent power-leveling someone who's afk

i forgot to mention i login as my pet
my alt does the killing and i do the finishing
to each of his own i guess... my alt can 1-2 shots the black bears and 2-3 shot the white one
but yeah ciar adv is always fun, obtaining the pass is a lil bit tricky

I just do Rundal a time or two, one run is level 25 and the dungeon isn't that long. If you aren't used to pet fighting just drag someone with you and set the xp all to finish.

There are many ways... Though 2 methods i found the best are.. :O

1.When fighting White Holy Manchurian bears Use your pet to smash it while you smash it to..

2. When your doing a Dungeon *Preferably* a HARDMODE Or dungeon that gives ALOT of Exp Leave them outside of the dungeon Door and resume on with the rest of the rooms..

-they have less hp

i tried that once, i fail badly at it XD

archers tend to shoot me when i'm loading th/is/fb/controlling a golem

If you can two shot both of the bears, it don't really matter though.  It just depends on how much trouble the bears give you.

It eats the summon time.. Depends if your logged onto the pet, or char.
So, mind as well just let it spam(train) when your in a dungeon.
