Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

1. Make a .txt file
2. go to the lag page on the wiki
3. find the example of the command line to change mtu and copy paste to the txt file
4. Change the number to whatever you want to set mtu to (since vista/7 users can change mtu at runtime, there is little reason to worry about setting it to low, so go ahead and use the lowest one possible(48))
5. save, and rename with ".txt" changed to ".bat"
6. make another .bat file for changing mtu back to 1500
7. start Mabinogi, log in to the character selection screen
8. right click the 48 mtu .bac file, click run as admin
9. click allow on the UAC
10. get pissed off that the UAC crashed the client and write an angry email 2 both to Nexon and to Microsoft
11. run the 1500 mtu .back file as admin (cause some people have trouble getting HS to load at 48 mtu)
12. repeat step 7-11 till the client doesn't crash on the UAC message
13. select a character and finish logging in
14. repeat step 11 so you can browse the web while playing mabi
15. repeat step 10

Lol @ getting pissed at UAC
I was thinking it'd be possible w/ two .bats, though heng said one o.o
I need to brush up on my extensions, only realized it was command line cuz of runtime/realtime context clues
Thanks Sozen~ (+1)

Port Forwarding is useless with new modems, the new ones already does that for you...

I'm not sure what that meant but lowering MTU makes your downloads a lot slower, as well as surfing the web, and it affects mabi in opening shops and pet summoning. Don't just lower your MTU like that if you don't what that is.

You need to understand something. MTU setting does decrease download time, and surfing the web, but on mabinogi, you see, the packets are much smaller. That is why setting your MTU to 500-ish range helps if you play mabinogi exclusively. 1000 is good if you like decent speed on downloads, and playing mabinogi at the same time.

It also decreases opening shops, talking to NPCs and pet summoning time.....well basically anything like that except for the skill loading, now there is a guide on how to decrease your MTU to the safest number and it's in Epvpers written by Aldeel I think. But I think you should change it so that people won't lower it that much because it did affected me a lot.

I don't know about you, but my MTU is 597, and I am like super lagless in Alabama. Pet summoning isn't affected that I can tell for myself.

Maybe not you, but for people in farther locations or different ISP's it does affect it. It has to do with the configuration of the registry and many other factors but really, it's extremely recommended not moving that to such a low value trust me, it's even stated in the talk page of the "Lag" page in mabinogi world wiki so yeah I think you should add the warning at least :T

Thank you much for this post, Marck. The other steps I knew of (and taught friends how to do them, or did it for them on TeamViewer), but with the port forwarding step I was finally able to fall from 6~10ms to 0~2ms (Yes, 0 ping) inside Mabinogi. :)

Dam do you guys live right next to the station or something? 0 ping is like you camping outside their station for a good connection. o3o

I get 160 ping-ish and I only use leatrix latency fix which is the same as disabling nagle.

I'm not all that technical with these stuff so I'm afraid of trying some of these methods out.
I'm just too lazy to do the port forwarding cause I have totally idea how to even with those instructions and can someone tell me if port forwarding to mabi's network would affect my usual network browsing such as videos or downloads.

I'm using vista and I have no idea what that 20% bandwidth means. Maybe you can explain a bit as of what they do and how they affect your internet speed and such instead of just telling us to do it without us knowing the side effect. I don't play mabi 24/7 and my laptop isn't made to play JUST Mabi, I do other stuff too and I don't want to optimize my internet for JUST Mabi, if you know what I mean. ;o

From what dmazura, it seems setting the MTU to 512 is only for mabi and has some side effects even in mabi, not including the slower download speed and such when I'm not on Mabi.

It will not affect your browsing, if you will notice, it is restricted to a certain program. "Client.exe" which is Mabinogi.

I'm using vista and I have no idea what that 20% bandwidth means. Maybe you can explain a bit as of what they do and how they affect your internet speed and such instead of just telling us to do it without us knowing the side effect.

This is a very crucial option as it is set default for most of computers today. There is a setting that reserves 20% of bandwidth so your computer can use it if it needs more Connection speed, or it overloads the used bandwidth. Like I said in the post, it's not required, but it helps.

I don't play mabi 24/7 and my laptop isn't made to play JUST Mabi, I do other stuff too and I don't want to optimize my internet for JUST Mabi, if you know what I mean. ;o

These settings help you all-around, the only thing that can said to be exclusive to Mabinogi, is the MTU fix; But I would highly reccommend you set it to 1500 for a faster Tcp connections (i.e. your internet in general)

Thanks for the reply I'm trying the port forwarding method but I'm having trouble logging in via using 192.168.1.1 and using my user and password.

I think they told me to set up a user and password when I signed up for the internet service but I forgot and then went to their website to reset my password. So I go on 192.168.1.1 again and typing the user is fine but the problem is the password. When I type say 1 letter, 3 asteriks appear and such. Sometimes the number of asteriks increase or even decrease. I can never get my password that I setted via on my ISP's website in. I tried copying and pasting but it setted my password to 7 asteriks. Is it suppose to be like this cause I can't log in x-x

Edit: Scratch all that. New question. My ISP is a bit different I guess and it isn't as simple as your instructions.
To clarify, Protocol is UPD right?
Source port is 1100-11100?
Destination port is 11020?

Tell me if any of these are incorrect, I can't input the name Client.exe either which I hear doens't matter?
