News

Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

Mabinogi Frontend v6.7
« on: May 26, 2023, 12:06:50 am »
Tada, updated to fix Nexon's shennanigans once again!

As usual, Frontend related discussion goes here. The download info as always is in the files section.

As a reminder, this newer 64 bit version will need to be fresh installed. There is no way to update the existing program as-is directly to the new version. I apologize for any inconvenience.

As a side note, between the 64 bit update and a slight change to how the programs I make are encrypted, there is a decent chance that antivirus systems will despise it and automatically assume it's a virus, but I can assure you that is not the case. Simply add any affected programs to your allow list.

Also, Nova now has multiclient capabilities!

Enjoy everyone!

Quick thing I noticed today, evidently switching from Nova to a different patch system wasn't removing the modded package file. Fixed and popped that into a quick program update.

In the meantime:

I'm guessing you have Steam installed on your computer, but don't have it configured perhaps? Frontend tries multiple methods to search for Mabi.

What do you mean by "Not configured"?

steam is very much working.

If you look in your steam install folder (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam), is there a file "\steamapps\libraryfolders.vdf"? This is where steam stores the configuration for where its library folders are stored (and therefore where your steam games are located). It's hard to say why your Steam install would be missing that file.

Stmea is installed on a different drive. It's E:\Steam\steamapps\libraryfolders.vdf

Odd...Steam stores its install location in the registry which Frontend reads from, unless Steam changed something over time...did you ever manually move the steam folder to the other drive after installing by any chance?

They must have changed something since the frontend was first released yea.

If you're comfortable looking into your computer's registry to see where Steam has it's info, it would be in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam". The steam install folder should be listed under "SteamPath". It's hard to say how Steam would run properly if its settings are pointing to a completely different location.

If you are comfortable changing it, you can feel free to copy the current value to notepad to back it up just in case, and put in your steam folder instead. Once that's done, Steam should be reporting correct info to Frontend and it should be able to find the Mabi folder.

Mind you if you aren't sure about the registry, I'd recommend holding off on trying any changes.

Hi, I recently tried to run Frontend but it crashes as it tries "contacting server" without any error popping up. I looked at the event viewer and got 3 logs (see below). It seems that there were people that had the same problem back in v6.6 and I've tried what others did and reinstalled .NET Framework 4.8 and even 3.5, did SFC scan (which did find corruptions but were fixed), restarted comp, and disabled antivirus and firewall. The outcome stays the same.

I installed Frontend and went to open it and I'm getting a pop-up saying "Error communicating with the server. Please try again later." I made sure to run the program as administrator but it doesn't change anything. I have mabi installed through Steam, any advice for what I should try next?

After I finish installing frontend and run it it asks for the games location and after I select that the installer does some things and it closes, after that nothing happens and if I try to launch frontend again it just the "Authenticating" and after that the "Contacting Config Server..." screens and nothing happens after that, did I install it wrong or something?

I think this will be of interest to you... https://mabimods.net/index.php?topic=18273.0

Basically, the downloads section is currently unavailable.

Also, Frontend wasn't working last I checked, anyway. It hasn't been updated since June, and connections to the server fail.

In my opinion... now might be a good time to start learning how to do it without Frontend.

EDIT: Wait... this is my first post? I've really been lurking here for 15 years?

Frontend is updated more often then that as most things it downloads from a server, that post is also part of the reason frontend may or may not be working atm as The Proffessor posted on discord a few weeks ago that the problem with it connecting to server might be fixed now.

Hey, thanks for the reply. Cunningham's law, eh?

I'd been getting concerned for the future of the community, considering the issues with frontend, the site being inaccessible as often as not, and the *ahem* UOTiara.com domain being up for sale. (Turns out it just moved, and I forgot. Oops~)

I guess I'll have to join the discord to try to stay more up to date. (or not, looks like that link's missing as well.)

yea, I just update uo tiara on github since its open source now, might be a few days before I update this time though since it was a big update.

and not cunningham's law, I just ignored that guy's post since marck made an announcement, he should have made an effort to read it xD and yours was worth replying to.

I got this while trying to run front end and the updater i checked and reset my internet disabled my antivirus but i keep getting this i haven't used frontend in years any help would be very much appreciated

I am receiving the same error. Would be interested in trying out FrontEnd since it contains a number of the modifications I generally have to manually install.
