News

Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

I'm on Windows 7 launching from nexon launcher but I've tried with the direct launcher aswell
Hmm so for now looks like the issue only happens on Win7, huh? You're on 64bit too? Which Direct Launcher did you use? Blade's or mine or some other(which?)?

Blade's but I don't think that's the issue since I can get into game just fine it's like after 5 mins I get NGS

You say 5 mins? Thats a long time... I'm always getting kicked within 90-120 seconds. One thing I could suggest you to try - use a direct launching shortcut (launch your game from a shortcut with the necessary parameters), no direct launcher app at all.

Just to add another data point, my game also trips NGS on win7 x64 with only abyss. My other computer running win10 x64 works fine with abyss.

For example I used something that was detected and got NGSed, then I removed that but got NGSed again, even though there was nothing to be detected, but its like that previous one was cached and I was NGSed because of that, so sometimes I had to test every change I made twice to make sure the NGS detection I'm currently getting is not the cached one.

And there's a thought.
Okay, so if anyone having issues wants to try something far-fetched, go into the 'my documents' folder for w/e account you play mabi under (should be administrator account) and navigate to Mabinogi/Cache
Delete everything but the files that that end in .plst extension.  They'll look like a string of nonsensical letters and numbers.  You can delete them too if you wish, but be warned it will reset your pet order.  So can be a right pain if you have a lotta pets, or specific ordering even.

So still having trouble with abyss and mabi, but I've discovered that despite many people using abyss fine, suggesting this is some sort of client/launcher issue, that Kanan's actually works fine without NGS for me.

Not sure whether to think its NGS or Abyss or what anymore, this case is rather confusing. So yes, Kanans is a workaround at present, though I'd urge those that are able to help see if we can figure things out so that, whatever the case may be, Blade has some solid info to go on.

So I guess at this point we can assume the issue has something to do with windows 7 64 bit

is there a possibility it could be both?

Edit: forget I said that, I realized how silly it was after I had already posted it..

my problem which may or may not be NGS related is on windows 8.1 64bit

i have no idea if its NGS because NGS normally just boots you to the login screen and tells you it detected something, but it just closes without any kind of warning or error or anything

I'm Yohmegurt and I'll try my best to help!

So, from my own testing and observations, none of the mods seem to be broken for me. I have Abyss and Tiara without any changes prior to the maintenance and I ran kanan as well without issues.

However, after I open a second client, NGS starts occuring. Except that it's not the second client getting NGSed, but the first one. My guess is they start detecting if multiple clients are appearing and disconnecting your first one after the second one starts running.

This isn't entirely correct, I've ran with and without multiclient multiple times in the last 12 hours and neither has worked, I get ngs in a matter of seconds either way.
Edit: However in the case that multiclient is being detected too, than that itself is a whole other issue, a separate one from the issue for what seems to effect windows 7 64bit users, but an issue nonetheless, I do not mean to undermine your post and my apologies if I came off that way.

No worries. But I did say specifically that the mods are working for me. I'm just reporting the fact that opening a second client causes the first client to get NGSed within a minute or so.

Edit: Also strangely, I am running Windows 7 64 bit, but I don't seem to be having these issues.

If I would need to make a guess I'd say you have a newer version of Visual C++ installed than the people with issues.

Now that I'm home, as this was mentioned in the abyss discord too, I've gone and taken a look at what versions I have installed.

According to programs and features I have 2005, 2008 , 2010, 2012 , 2013 and 2015 all in both x86 and x64 varieties. Have a few different versions of 2013 and 2008 too, presumably due to particular applications installing them.

I checked my versions and installed the 2015 version this morning as well. Still didn't work. Running Kanan now and everything is peachy.

Just because I have the ability to, and there's no real consequences for doing so, I'm currently updating to windows 10, just to see if that might fix things, I know its a bit drastic but it's an idea?

Edit: I do remember someone mentioning a windows 10 update for mabi of some sorts with this last update, I dont know if this would effect abyss at all but since windows 10 seems to be working for most, it's a shot, albeit one in the dark I guess.

Another Edit: I'm having issues actually installing win10, so thats a thing, I'll figure it out and update when I can if it's helpful. Also on a side note I have Visual C++ 2015 installed as well.

One Final Edit: Turns out my drivers are not compatible with win10, which  kinda makes it impossible for me to test out win10, I dont have the patience nor resources to fix something like that so someone else will have to test out win10 if they really want to, but if the double logging works as Skylaar suggested, we shouldnt have to.

Yeah, getting win 10 on some computers, is like getting past NGS when playing mabi.  Can be a real pain.  I remember on another pc, when the win10 was publicly released, trying to update it and it wouldn't show the update as possible from windows.  Had to actually google and find something to dl in order to actually update.  That's a good year or so ago though, so i can't really help troubleshooting anymore.

As far as NGS issues go i'm running peachy without Abyss and only Custom Package files installed but as soon as Abyss is applied it boots after 3-4 Minutes.

Win 10 64-bit and Win7 64-bit here both tested to work without Abyss but not with it.

People keep spamming me about extra threads and turning it off in the .ini and getting it working.

Can not verify, partially because I don't play, partially because I just don't wanna. But that's what everybody's yelling at me about.

Just gave it a try and unfortunately still got NGS :/

At this point I'm wondering if Abyss is actually detected and just NGS is doing a crap job of detecting it for a bunch of people, and that we might actually be due an update. Nothing complicated seems to make sense, so perhaps the solution is the simplest one.

A little theory here, out of those of us here having issues, how many have UAC disabled. I'm wondering if the difference between UAC on and run as admin vs UAC off is the difference. I have UAC off and both without run as admin (as its not required without UAC for directlaunch) and with run as admin I NGS. Perhaps having UAC on prevents NGS doing some of its work whereas UAC off gives it free reign. No idea the viability of that theory, just speculating.
