Yep, NGS again, just reverted to one of my older abyss files as suggested by my friends just yesterday when NGS last hit, and so far it does indeed appear to be running fine. Not suggesting people run old abyss, but it does appear to be the new features that are getting flagged so often.
It's common knowledge at this point that abyss is being targeted. So i'll go over what may not be so obvious to some.
We know abyss has regular updates atm. Sometimes abyss will update before nexon breaks it. I'd strongly recommend you keep a backup of the versions that were updated without breaking. Ie, if nexon patches on say the 25th and then abyss updates later on the 26th, and again on the 27th even though nothing broke on the 26th, you'll want to keep a backup of the 26th version of abyss. Reason is, since nexon is actively targetting abyss, there really is no reason for them to go for an outdated version. Means it's far more likely for the old version to work than a new version when nexon does a patch, but also means you're more likely to be missing features or even have some other undesirable complications. Also bear in mind, blade has explicitly stated you are not to share links to his files. Expect a punishment if you try to do so, i can't say how severe of one it will be.
You'd think it's logic that nexon targets abyss in a manner that actually gives it problems universally, across all versions. But i've been saying that i believe nexon is trying to impress someone or meet a quota with their work for a while now, rather than actually put in effort to target mods, it seems more like they're just regularly targeting something that's easily patchable on their end, to prevent a mod, and then they're trying to say to whoever, that they're putting in effort as evidenced by such regular maintenances and showing that it is indeed interfering with mods. What that's implying is, that nexon honestly still doesn't give 2 craps about mods, they're just spending something that's probably like all of 5 mins every update/maint to quickly break a mod, to make it
look like they're actually putting in effort. Still same old lazy nexon, just seems they have a new requirement for their work, so they took the easiest way out to meet the requirement, rather than actually truly working on something that would wreak havoc on the modding scene.
Anyway, that's all pretty much conjecture on my part, based on past experiences with nexon and how i keep hearing about various versions of abyss working after every maint, as well as the fact that virtually nothing else aside from abyss gets targeted. And even abyss is only targeted pretty much once a week. As i lack actual interaction with nexon, and contribute almost nothing to the mod scene myself though, you can take what i say with a grain of salt. You may form your own opinions if you monitor the whole anti-modding scene for a while, whether the same as or different than mine.
