Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

it says who on the first post, and don't know if you noticed, but hardly anyone is updating mod_sharker mods anymore, except maybe step29 and Rydian on occasion, so it will be awhile or not at all until it's updated.

Alright, so I've been getting kicked a lot earlier, so I ran some tests, if you can call it that. What I found is that, for me, killing the NGS process actually causes my kicks. Or at least, some of the kicks. Prior to the test, I first removed all the mods, (unless something was leftover that I didn't catch), but Abyss was definitely gone.

Then I started a client, didn't kill NGS.

Then I added in Poison Pack while first client was open, and opened a second client with the added Multiclient

Then opened a few more clients, logged into a bunch of accounts to pass the time, didn't get kicked from either clients for about 25 minutes or so.

Then I killed NGS and shortly (a few minutes?) after both clients were terminated.

Not sure if killing NGS triggers the termination for sure, but it does seem to do something.

Hope someone can make something out of these results.

So abyss/data folder stopped working for me today on my main computer, but they still work on my other comp. Anything specific anyone want to see that may help?

Okay, kudos for making several attempts on finding problems.  Same to everyone else volunteering their time on this, the info, even if it seems repetitive, helps cement the idea of what does and doesn't work, so the efforts are appreciated.



For abyss, you could try disabling some of the things known to cause issues in the past.  Extrathreads, i think cpu reduction at one point if you minimized your game, data folder read, and in a worst case scenario use a copy of your abyss.ini with all the entries set to 0.  Make sure to check the abyss.log or w/e, in your mabi folder, and look to see if it says any of your abyss mods are failing.

What I've tried so far:

Tiara/Abyss (everything installed) = NGS boot

Tiara/Abyss + disabled Blackcipher = NGS boot

Tiara/Abyss + Morrighan = NGS boot with and without Blackcipher

Clean install = works

Tiara installed with abyss/datapacker deselected and mabipacker selected = NGS boot

Clean install with PoisonPack and nothing else = works.

Have not yet tried multiclient or any other individual mods.

What about Poison and Abyss manually?

Also you know what's really weird?  I was chatting about the in-game filter with some people in a homestead, and to check out the filter I had MabiUnpack running after opening the chat filter, and I had those files open, and every so often when I'd type one of the why-the-hell-is-this-filtered words into chat (mainly old/broken URLs), sometimes I'd get booted with an NGS error upon hitting enter.  Happened a few times that night, and always exactly upon hitting enter (so it was a client boot), and only when I still had MabiUnpack and the copy of the filter (with the right filename) open.

But it wasn't repeatable enough for me to get anything useful out of.  I could relog and then type in what I meant to type earlier and it'd work, so I couldn't test properly to see which thing it was actually picking up on.  Really annoying.

Poison manually has worked for me, but I haven't tried abyss. I'll let someone else test while I get in what little playing I can today.

So i basically replaced my appdata folder with the one from my laptop (where abyss/data folder was working) and I would still crash. But then I got my friend's abyss (which I believe is an older version) and I've been online for over 30min with NGS still active and no boot.

Everything crashes or boots except poison pack, or clean install for me.
Edit Packing the data folder works, but abyss still boots.

UO Tiara is still working fine for me with Power Patcher 2.0 or MabiDirectLaunch.exe and MabiPacker

DATA Packer (UO Tiara data folder) = detected

Abyss (only Scouter and DataFolder on, UO Tiara data folder) = detected

Abyss (only DataFolder off and using MabiPacker.exe, UOTiara.pack, custom language.pack and MabiDirectLaunch.exe) = not detected

Closing NGS = detected

So abyss, should i be editing the first post on it and what should i be saying?  Cuz as i recall when going through posts prior to this thread, it was usable if you removed the old dll and crackshield.  But it seems everyone posting now has trouble with the current version, while verland claims an older version worked for 30+ mins.

It's honestly surprising that they're making this much effort to me.  They're making honest strides this time, to hit modders which should be a good sign, if they ever took their players' lag seriously.  But, while it may be frustrating right now, and the work that people will have to do to get new mods up and working will be frustrating, i still think it's too soon to give them credit for taking modding seriously.  As any efforts they've made in the past, when they 'take something seriously' for mabinogi, within a month or month and a half they'll all but disappear again, in their efforts.  So i'm kind of looking forward to see how much efforts they continue to make, as this is one of the most memorable things i've ever seen them do, in the way of honest effort.

this may be just me, but launching the game from Power Patcher 2.0 seems to be detected, but using a direct launch shortcut or MabiDirectLaunch.exe works fine, currently uo tiara only makes the "Launch Client' shortcut, but future versions will come with MabiDirectLaunch.exe, obviously we need to avoid using nexon's launcher since it deletes custom .packs

maybe renaming PowerPatcher.exe to Mabinogi.exe will solve this, i'm not sure it will need more testing and feedback from others

I second this, ironically I've enabled every Abyss mod to test, and cannot for the life of me get NGS to detect it. I can also confirm that Nova works without any issues as well. NGS doesn't appear to detect anything Frontend related.
E = mc² actually stands for Enjoyment = (Modifying the Client)². The more Mods you have, the Enjoyment increases exponentially.

I'm assuming you have no data folder?
just tried Abyss again, was on with it for 10 minutes and as soon as i changed active window to type this message it got detected by NGS

last time i tried i had Scouter=1, DataFolder=1 and wasn't using MabiDirectLaunch.exe, so i'm changing that now to see if it's detecting DataFolder, because i know it's not detecting custom .packs

I realize this wasn't directed at me, but I do use Abyss' data folder patch with my data folder. I would only use Nova in the event that memory patchers would get blocked.

I have no data folder. I had most mods on like I usually do (basically the default ini). I used PowerPatcher 2.0.1.0 to launch it. Didn't have a problem.

then it's most likely a specific data folder mod not present in Frontend or people that were using Power Patcher 2.0 to launch the client, as i was earlier today, even though it's using the right client arguments to launch and closes after clicking start, it seemed to cause NGS to boot me at the time anyway.

been on for 20 minutes with DataFolder=0, uo tiara's data folder packed to custom .packs and using MabiDirectLaunch.exe
so that leads me to believe they are detecting something like Visual Chat or otherwise unique to uo tiara, mods that neither Blade or Proff are using.

but with everything i've also noticed it's random as freak between everyone, some things work one way for some and not with others so theirs no clear definition as to what is triggering NGS

Yeah, and even OS may make a difference if they're trying to detect certain programs made with certain versions of .NET, etc.

Many years ago, when Frontend and Tiara were first made, some mods worked on some OS' and either didn't work or were detected on others, so there's always the possibility that issue has returned.

Right-clicking my custom.pack and setting it to read-only makes it not be deleted by the nexon launcher, however I am using the steam version, if that makes any difference.

yea, i know. that's why they call it read only, it also breaks nexon's non-steam launcher by greying out the start button if you set language.pack to read-only which is mentioned in several guides, not sure if it also breaks the steam launcher, but either way i wouldn't trust using any of their launchers because they are theirs.

technically it doesn't if your using an official language.pack and if your using a third party launcher or shortcut that doesn't delete packs then again you don't need to set any .pack as read-only with third party launchers, but uo tiara has it's own language.pack for xml and code text mods and it needs to overwrite the official language.pack just to avoid having korean letters show up instead, so even though i don't set it as read-only; i should just to prevent it from being deleted by nexon's launcher for those who don't always use the appropriate launchers.

I got bored and closed NGS on a clean Client and got kicked for security threat. so I am going to just try and -re-install mods and keep NGS on, just to see if I get booted.
