News

Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

Thanks to Draconis, I am able to use mods again!

I'm posting here atm, cuz i'm mostly afk so i won't be holding a decent convo.  I'll try adding you later in discord if i still have some questions and i'm not afk.

First question, have you gone over the first post extensively?  There's a lot of details on it, on what we've discovered and potential fixes.  There are still things we don't seem to know though.  I've glanced at the mabi forums a time or two, and heard that programs they'd use for work,  entirely unrelated to mabi, would trip the NGS.  As to the validity of this, and how far they've gone in confirming this, i can't say.  But with nexon's track record i wouldn't be surprised, and i can't honestly say that some generic control processes for certain hardware or OS wouldn't trip NGS.  I can vaguely recall one update mabi had locking out winXP users, i believe it was due to MSXspirit.dls, which i believe is no more than an audio type file.

You may try safe mode with networking, so you're running the bare essentials, and see if you can start mabi that way.  I don't even know that it'll work, but if it does then you can probably safely assume one of your background processes is the problem.

I did go over the post pretty well, I may have skimmed it(I am sorry.); But I litterly did everything that most of you had said --(except for filling out the form--That may have been what i skimmed on!): None of the potential fixes were what had happened in my case[Donno why.] But what happened, from what I saw and Draconis had said/shown me.

I had files that kept re-downloading as -older- verisons of the files for some reason? I don't know why. But they never updated. So he'd given me updated / newer ones.

Abyss was more current but still didnt work. But he'd given me the newest verison.
Also: I had a problem with the datapack, It wasn't loading at all for me, even after we'd gotten mabi working / making sure it wouldn't crash.

I ended up having to use some of his datapack files in turn for mine which ultimately fixed the problem (Thank god they also worked with the rest of everything on my system.)

I can probably NOT get on a -clean- client still in all honesty. I can only imagine if I took everything off and went clean-client completely. :V

But, injecting with the new injector, Getting a update on the current files(since they did not ever update apparantly for me(?), And after a goooooood bit of pentesting. We finally got it working. :V It took a good couple hours and A GOOD BIT OF US GOING "WHAT THE freak." (Also, It was partially adding to it that the injection milisecond time needed to be a specific /set/ time, And we had to pentest to find that out, too.)

I don't think though honestly, That this was a problem i would've been able to fix just by myself, Seeing how it went out. This was probably an advanced type of problem anyways and I'd been frustrated from it from the beginning and hell, I think it frustrated Draconis too at a point. Haha.

But thank you guys so much! -- Upvotes to Draconis, Fl0rn, And shaggy.

Just curious, Offen, did you try using power patcher or i think frontend has something for patching, or some other patching method aside from the nexon launcher?
Sometimes things just go weird, i can't help with that.  But the nexon launcher and mabinogi client updater both have their fair share of issues.  It's at the point now that, if you can use a third party program to grab files/update, i would strongly recommend you do it.

I dunno if this was mentioned before or not, but this has been my experience with PowerPatcher since NGS went full-on anti-mods...

It seems that, at least in my experience, NGS is checking for two things:
1. If the client was launched with PowerPatcher
2. If a file named "PowerPatcher.exe" exists in the Mabi directory

Whether I launched the client directly, or with PowerPatcher, NGS kept giving me the boot... until I renamed the EXE (I renamed it to Powah.exe, because I am terrible at what I do). At which point, NGS stopped kicking me from direct launch, but would still kick if I used PowerPatcher to launch (however, it's still fine to update/downloaded with PowerPatcher).

Now, I could be completely wrong in my assessment here, and this is all coincidental... but I'm just reporting it as I see it.

@Chacha i think it's coincidence.  I have my power patcher in the mabi directory, i patch with it but i use direct launch instead of launching via power patcher.  It doesn't seem to trip NGS for me.

I did use powerpatcher, As it is with tiara, And thats how i originally got on mabi; It had stopped working two months ago for me: Frontend was my end game "okay i'm going to try this now because i'm desperate."; Other than that, I was testing how to get on with uninstalling/instaling mabinogi from the nexon launcher/etc. But I would never open mabinogi from the nexon launcher. The steam verison doesn't work for me or my computer, It's really buggy so I can't really.

The powerpatcher had an error before whenever i'd used it. Like everytime i'd load it, It would say some file resulted in an error and it couldn't continue. So i'm guessing that the verison of powerpatcher I got from Draconis was an updated one.

And to be -honest-
this is why i don't trust mabinogi with their system/patchers and all

I can't start it without mods xD..

I have been having NGS issues since yesterday when I got home from work (about 5:30 p.m. central). I don't know what changed, but I had been able to use frontend with no problems for the last two weeks. Any ideas?

If you run abyss, it's worth noting that the recent revision gets detected at the moment.  I ninja edited that in earlier i believe.
As for frontend itself, i'm afraid i'm mostly unfamiliar with it, i don't use it, so i can't help a whole lot if that's all you're running, sorry.

Is there an update for abyss? Frontend wont launch without abyss.

Not yet.  Blade's been looking into it when he's free, but he has rl, work, and such i assume.

The mods seems to be bugging the dungeon entrance generator ,by that I mean if you try to enter a dungeon by dropping an item on the altar and generate a dungeon ,nothing happens and your character gets stuck on the place.

Re: EDIT
Doesn't seem to effect Rabbie Phantasm /Mirror Dungeons probably because the are pre generated.

Works perfectly fine after deleting both dungeon db files both db2 and db.

Just a heads up that NGS started acting up for me again today. Not sure what the cause is yet, but it seems to be related to multiclienting, and possibly abyss as tiara without multiclient works, but got booted with 2 clients in abyss, then later when relogging 2 in just tiara.

So...It looks like NGS updates itself every Tuesday, that should be taken as a note.  ::)

Yeah, we've been playing hot potato with that one in Discord. :)  They seem to do this right before client/server updates and re-starts (2 days or the day before usually).

Is Abyss working Tiara for right now or is there still problems after this recent NGS issue? (I was using abyss and still kept getting NGS issues and haven't really gotten to see the updates)

I've just re-used the UO Tiara 233 for abyss, bcuz for some reason i cant download the other one. But i'm using the regular things i had usually used before the NGS first started. But i'm still getting kicked off by it, and changed the Injector time multiple times. Now when i took it off my mabi doesnt start anymore.

Ever since Abyss switched to injector method, I am having inconsistent experience when it comes to data folder mod. Even with same timing, I am able to load data folder at one time and not so other times. Instead of playing trial and error every time this happens, I've decided to simply create custom pack files. Here is my issue though.

While I am familiar with the process of creating custom pack files, none of the application seem to work. They either spit out error or simply become unresponsive once I tell them to make the pack file.

I am using W10 64bit and running all application as admin.

[Guide] Logue's MabiPacker

This is what i use, same operating system.  The progress bar for making a pack file quickly fills up, but it will go unresponsive for a minute when the bar fills, as it's actually still working.  Just wait a bit to see if it actually does anything.  If it gives an error, no matter which app you use, make sure you screenshot the error and detail what steps you took that led up to the error.  This is normally essential information on troubleshooting.

If you do get the pack file, again make sure you look at that guide.  Setting to read only is recommended, the guide covers why.

Thanks for your reply. I did read the guide and it didn't smooth for me. I've doing this couple years ago and didn't have any issue then but that was before NGS days. I will try again once I get home and upload picture of error message if I get one.

I''ll be switching back to proxy probably tomorrow, so long as everything goes as smoothly as it has been with updating to avoid NGS.

Has anyone actually ever been banned for getting too many ngs errors on one account? Is this something that nexon keeps track of? Or is it just an annoyance?

Not that I'm aware of. All I remember is that when nexon announced their updated NGS system, it was just going to keep kicking you out from the game till you remove the mods or so.

The feedback thread has been created! I have also spoken to the Mabinogi team about this matter and they are aware of your feedback and that there are mods being used for convenience. At this time, we are definitely targeting malicious or advantageous hacks/third party programs, and we will be making adjustments over time while we monitor feedback about the security update from the community. Once all areas of improvement for the game have been voiced, we will try to have a more concrete plan for any changes and be sure to share it with you at that time.

You should just be kicked from the game. After that, it is recommended that you remove the mods being used.

Post #21 and #22 by sabina.

Most everyone has interpreted it as NGS just kicks people, and that Nexon will not take action against standard mods, abyss, or the like.  There are a few who claim they've been banned for modding, but i'd suggest taking what they say with a grain of salt, as they do often leave out the shady things they do like trying to use pake, exploiting bugs or the system, and things of a similar malicious nature.  I've heard a few individuals who do exploit things, while using mods, and still are not banned.

At this point, i'd just encourage you to keep an ear to the ground, and try to make sure to either gather as much facts as you can from anyone who has had issues, or be weary of anyone who seems like they're omitting facts.  I'd also strongly advise against taking advantage of any shady bugs and such.  Nexon doesn't typically take action if they release a large bug, other than patching, but now and then they will burn your fingers even though it's their screwup.
