Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

Curious, is anyone else having an issue with the sky lantern balloon item crashing you? About 75% of the time if I even so much as mouse over one in a shop I crash, and every single time I set one down in my inventory or equip one my client disappears. Also having other random crashes but the sky lantern one is 100% reproducible

It's not just the sky lantern balloons, at least to me it isn't though one of my friends were talking to me about it earlier about how it seems to be _just_ the sky lantern ones for her ( ? ). I pretty much crash when it comes to trying to pick one up and/or place it back down in my inv. It'll get pretty ridiculous sometimes when I hover my cursor over it too or try and open a shop that has one in it.

Well it wasn't item color specifically, that's for sure. I turned it off in the .ini and proceeded to get back on the game and spam click the lantern, crashing within a second or two. If I receive one from the event and the game even attempts to tell me I got one in the system tray I crash. This happens for a few random items at black/white dragon raids as well, where I'll just be clicking the ok button for the item popup message and bam, crash.

Have you all tried removing your /data/ folder (if it's there)?

Done the exact same as Chicken, so I can also confirm that it's not ItemColor doing it. Though on the other hand with the /data/ folder, there doesn't seem to be anything existing of the sort for me unfortunately, not sure about others though.

Stopped crashing completely after disabling ShowItemColor and ShowTrueDurability. Might try that as well.

This would only be valid if any of the mods I used were any way related to balloons, inventory, durability, colour, or any other .xml related things. Given, I don't even use a data folder, but I use my own .pack mods I make myself that are usually visual or sounds, I doubt it's related.

But to answer, yes, I have removed my folder with my .pack files in it, and I still have the same issue. I've also done this months back while my boyfriend had this same issue while I didn't. I mentioned before that we both have the same .packs and both run Abyss, and I would troubleshoot on his laptop all the time since his Pleione engine loads up faster than mine, it's much easier to run tests on his laptop. However, now that it's reversed and the crash issue happens to me, I too went through the same process, and the .pack files don't have anything to do with it.

TL;DR
This would only be relavent if anything in our data folder or .packs was any way related to the balloons or had outdated .xml files.

If you have any problems at all with items try disabling ItemColor/TrueDura.

I guess that is true, but to remove an entire folder without knowing what's all included sometimes sucks!
I think if people are going to use Abyss or any other mods like Tiara, you should know what you're installing as well, have some general know-how about mods themselves. Especially when it comes to .xml files. I know anymore, I've stopped using .xmls for say, Ancient titles, or item.xml files for gold and title font sizes to be enlarged. I stopped because personally, it's a pain in the butt to have to update it every time a new item or mob name is introduced. I feel that when signing up, at least read up a little bit and be aware of what's all included. (:

Even a window would appear when initially installing Tiara when it first came out, that lets you check and uncheck things you do or do not want. I also know that Mabinogi does load your data folder, if it exists. This is why the modding community needs to be more educated...

Granted, I understand we're not always going to have that... It's super easy to sign up for Mabimods just to see the forums and download files, but to fully understand what you're installing and how it functions is another.

Tiara does start off as a data folder when using the installer, or you can just download the full tiara.pack from the website, so it can start as a .pack as well, also when installing you can check mabipacker.exe and it will create a custom .pack with only the mods you select (hovering over the list of mods give a brief description and file location of the mod)

mabinogi only reads the .packs, it's abyss and kanan that enables the read data folder mod as well as the old datapacker.exe

but yea, no matter how easy we try to make information available in guides or with our releases some people just aren't going to spend the time learning, so we have to start with basic troubleshooting just in case.

I will admit, I am still a learner, but even people still learning with mods, or even some programming can narrow things down to what can cause an issue with any game, not just Mabinogi. I also have noticed that yeah, I don't get data folders to read unless I have Abyss running. However, my .pack files run without it. I just have them all set to Read-Only and in another folder in my package folder itself.

I was also wondering what happened to the old launcher with Tiara? You know- the one with the little giggles and had a screen pop up with a whole list of the available mods?

nothing happened to it, it's still been available from my website and draconis has been updating it on the day of maintenance for the last few years, it's probably the longest lasting mod compilation just because we keep passing the torch.

Alright. I haven't used it in so long because I did fine with things I learned how to make on my own. But I was aware Draconis started working on it a while back. I just had no idea if the launcher still functioned, that was the one thing I really appreciated with the whole set up, aside from the usefulness of a lot of the mods included, of course.

yea, mabidirectlaunch.exe, the direct launch short cut, mabilauncher plus and powerpatcher were removed from the installer, but i will add Hyddwn Launcher to it in the future since it's based off of powerpatcher, and it can be downloaded from it's github or you can always use prof's frontend to update/launch mabi.

Question rewarding to Sidhe's glitching floor.
I don't know if it coming from abyss, however it has been occurring and it near to unavoidable.
Basically what happen is that being in certain camera angle will make sidhe's floor disappear, and the only way to avoid this is move till your camera shows the floor again, or else when ever you click the floor you will only keep moving forward, it really annoying when you are fighting the bone dragon's as you are trying to position out of the fireball.
Is there a way to fix this? or is this something related to nexon itself?

Change zoom=1 to zoom=0 and save in abyss.ini

Every time I try to type something in either gc or squad, the cursor is always placed in front of the indicator; i.e chat interface starts like l% or l^ so you have to manually move the cursor to the right.

Also I can view other player chatting in other language but when I try to type in non-english, it shows up as light blue then turns into ? mark.

The question about your characters turning into question marks, that is because the Bitmap font that Abyss is equipped with doesn't show characters like ♥ or anything special.

It can also be caused by ExtraThreads, too. I always have the bitmap font disabled (too small for my old eyes, haha~), but I found that special characters (i.e. alt+3 for ♥) would turn into question marks when typed. They'd still display, if someone else typed one; just that I couldn't type them when ExtraThreads was enabled.

Unless that's been fixed since I last tried..

having problem typing korean I tried all combinations of 0's and 1's for bitmap and BitmapPostionFix but the korean still comes out as questions marks (??)

I believe this hasn't been solve yet, I knew what the problem was but couldn't find the toggle for it. I finally found it but forgot to post back. Disable Moving the cursor freely  (the thing that makes the cursor act weird and all)  by setting ControlTextCursor=0 in Abyss.ini. It messes up korean since a single korean character has characters in it XD. You can leave Bitmap font and position on or off and doesn't affect Korean.

Edit: Looks like many others mentioned this weird cursor thing but not with Korean characters
