I believe i have like almost never posted in the forums before but there's a very unique problem I've been having.
After installing Abyss (Per exact instructions) and starting the game via the Nexon Launcher it starts normally.
The only issue is when i get in-game none of the Abyss features are present.
Sorry you're not getting much help atm, the scenario presented is just hard for us to go off of.
You should have an ijl11.dll in your mabi directory, of that file size, it may actually be a slightly different size if my abyss is outdated. The .dat is an extra backup, it is highly advised but i don't think is necessary. And should you lack the .ini, then it should construct itself on the first successful run of the game with abyss going. Think there's actually a readme with the current abyss too. You may want to redownload abyss to make certain there's not a problem with a file.
Short of being absolutely certain that you're launching mabi from the same directory that abyss is in, i'm afraid i can only suggest generic troubleshooting help, which would classify as a long shot and unlikely to help. Make an exclusion for abyss and mabi in your anti-virus settings, clean up temp/junk files just to be safe, run anti-virus, do chkdsk to look for errors, and reboot. May consider trying something such as registry cleaning and system updates as well. Like i said, all of those are long shots, but if you have abyss in the right directory, i can't think of anything else i have to offer.
I had an issue where after installing abyss, mabi just wouldn't start. Client would crash before the "Nexon Game Security" or whatever, so I'd never get to the login screen at all.
Fresh install with no other mods.
Fresh install and UO Tiara.
Fresh install without touching the .ini file and no other mods.
WELL.
Then I changed my DNS to google's and it works. /shrug
Posting just in case anyone else was having that issue.
The infamous issue where you click the client, and it'll act like it's starting up, but hang with a process open in the background without ever opening the actual client up? That's an old problem, possibly recurring one, that i actually don't remember much about. You may try digging around if you're truly interested in it, but i would wish you luck if you did try due to the mass number of posts in this thread which is likely to be what covered that specific issue.
And i do have to ask, are you 100% certain the only thing you've done is change dns, and you changed absolutely nothing else while trying to get abyss to work? You didn't even restart computer at some point? Not trying to imply anything, but i know sometimes i get busy and will multi-task when troubleshooting, sometimes forgetting some of the minor details or order in which i did my tasks, even forgetting to watch the time and being off by up to a few hours when i try to recall it the next day. So just wanted to ask and make sure you don't fall in a similar scenario and something slipped your attention.
