Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

Now that the cat-and-mouse style patches have stopped, however temporary:

Perhaps the reason behind them is because there was an apparent security hole in the R237 version of the game that they were trying to hide, maybe?
I believe quoting the immediate previous post is a reckless waste of bandwidth.

Nexon is fully aware we exist, and in fact has members on our site to watch us.

Although we cannot prove it, it's strongly believed that Nexon is straight up taking the files and adding them to NGS.

That being said, I have attempted to track down the Nexon members, but to no avail. I lack the information needed to accurately locate them. So until such a time as I can find them with proper accuracy, nothing can be confirmed.

So it's not currently possible to know if you're correct, or if I'm correct.
Or any other ideas are correct.

Well, at the risk of being malicious, i can make a suggestion, though how feasible it honestly is i don't know.
If you suspect files are being straight pulled off of this site, especially in terms of a dll or patcher, include some coding that if it is read in some way and not properly executed, then it throws out some code intended to crash whatever is doing the reading.

Example being, i doubt the server is going to want something like read cp value when alt is read, i wouldn't expect it to function properly as that's meant for client side.  So some odd exception happening with it, have it crash whatever is reading it.  Have it write a log if you want, so if a user crashes from it they can report the log and you'll immediately know what the issue is.  But assuming this is possible, that alone would screw with nexon, i honestly don't have faith in the local coders.  And i mean, a crash while it may stop people from using abyss in a worst case scenario, it shouldn't muck up their game or computer so it wouldn't be truly malicious.

Again, don't know that that's feasible, and it does nothing for sniffing out the rat.  No way the person having to deal with this and figure out what's wrong, will be happy though.

Update Log:
November 9, 2016: Abyss has been updated on November 9, 2016 at 4:38PM UTC-5. New patches: DisableEventButton, DisableShiftHotkeyBar, GiantCameraFix and NoSkillRankUp all thanks to Step29. Fixed WindowPosition crashing the Client when opening other windows such as Guild Home, Cash Shop, etc.

Hello once again everyone

Let's explain these new modifications one by one

DisableEventButton - You know those new event buttons that sometimes get in the way on the GUI during gameplay? Especially for those who have smaller screens? Yeah, This mod is for you guys.
DisableShiftHotKey - Gameplay wise, when you hold shift key the hotkey bar will switch to it's 2nd slot. Sometimes this can lead to gameplay mistakes during combat. In case you don't use this hard coded hotkey, this mod is for you
GiantCameraFix - Revived back from my old modifications. This changes the camera position to focus on the giant's chest instead of the head like the other races .
NoSkillRankUp - Revived back from my old modifications. This disables the skill rank up flash window from appearing after you rank up a skill .

DisableEventButton

Nice one!
It looked like Mabinogi was turning into some cheap Chinese knock-off with all those event buttons.

I'm not the type of technical person to even understand what I've done wrong but I always get an error saying now "Item data is invalid" when I try and press start to enter Mabi. `_'
I mean I've always followed the same path into downloading Abyss but ever since the maint it's been like this now.

Not sure about others but I've only had that issue when using data mods (especially itemdb.xml edits)
If you haven't already, try removing data mods or .pack mods.

I think I've done that (I honestly don't even know what I'm doing tbh, really am not all that smart when it comes to this sort of stuff.) but still comes up with the same problem.
I don't really have any other mods aside from Abyss in the files I guess.

If you have a hard time understanding the following, playtime's post is probably for you.

https://mabimods.net/index.php?topic=17690.msg248457#new

That thread.  Look at the common files affected section.  If you have one of the files listed in there, from before this update, try removing it completely outside of your mabi directories.  If you need to confirm the location of the file, click the spoiler for R239 Update Files, and just use ctrl+f to search the file name.  That should also show the directory of your file, so locating it will be a cinch.

If you honestly want to learn this stuff, refer to the modding reports after every update, this a wonderful starting place specifically the common affected files.  Keep in mind the common affected files are not literally changed with every update, but are changed regularly enough, and big enough of an issue, they're basically an honorable mention so people will double-check them every update.

If you've taken a look at the modding report, Master-Guide to Modding is the next stop.  Don't bother try reading it all in one go, look at the first post and it cuts the thread into sections. (a few other posts are scattered here and there as well)  The guide's still in progress so there's work to be done, if you have suggestions playtime has encouraged users to make a post in the thread with said suggestions.

If there's questions you want to ask, there's a general question thread, one each for general forums and client modifications.  You can post your questions there and someone will hopefully get to you at their earliest convenience.

The userbase here may seem rather abrasive, but we do encourage learning.  If you're honestly putting forth effort to try to learn stuff, usually you'll find someone willing to put time in to help you.  Many will grow impatient though, if the details they are covering are also already in a sticky.  Bear with us though, as many of the people who provide help have been here for years, so the age of some of the contents, or even the disorganization of some of it, just kinda starts to blend together and we don't give it a second thought.

Oh, praise beautiful Morrighan. This gets rid of that annoying fishing event button that doesn't go away even after all the coupons are fished up (and won't stay in the same place... and even if you tried to minimize it, it pops back up after talking to an NPC or whatever). Do you know of any other event buttons this mod hides?

*edit* Very odd. Went through doing Advance Play on my alts, and the fishing event button still showed up on one of them. I wonder why just that one... though, when I tried to log back into the same alt, no event button. Hmm....

Any events that use that same window and button style I believe? Basically just the general button and how it looks with slight changes based on the event? At least that's what I understand by glancing over the ASM. Step can correct me on this if I'm wrong.

I have a quick suggestion. Kanan's patcher has an option that allows you to configure MTU, which can really speed up response times. It's REALLY, REALLY useful, it's like disabling vertical sync but instead of frames its with packets.

I tested with it on, and without it on, and there was a very visible difference. Actions were much more smooth and responsive. Perhaps you can add a patch that allows you to configure MTU?

Not sure why, but when I opened your link to download abyss on your domain, blade
I got this: http://puu.sh/sn97l/662de37e88.png
Something tried to download itself on my computer, 3 times. It looked like a virus (no it was not Abyss.7z). What's going on?

I would uninstall SearchProtect. I would also suggest using Malwarebytes. PM me what URL you got that from specifically.

Alright, so odd thing happened just within the past day or two.
I'm also not fully sure what could be causing it so I might test and turn some mods on/off later.

But for about two days, for some reason when I change channels, say; from 2 to 5, and then back to 2, my client will white screen and then I crash.
This also happened tonight when I tried to move into housing, my client will freeze, not respond, then crash.

I removed Abyss for now and tried to change channels and move via housing, and I did it just fine.
Not fully sure if it really is Abyss, or what in it could be causing this- but removing it for now seemed to work.
Kinda sucks because I want to keep my mods on. D:

If you can narrow down what patch it is, I may be able to make a fix. Sounds like a very odd issue though..
