News

Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

September 14, 2016: Updated Abyss to avoid detection.

May have to update again later, didn't see a maintenance announcement so hoping this will work for another week instead of until just later today.

I'm using the Frontend client, I removed and installed Abyss again, and I am still getting an NGS error. Should I wait until the Mabinogi update on the 15th? I'm not sure what to do and I don't have enough data to uninstall and re-install Mabinogi again.

Did you grab today's release directly from Blade's site?

Can I ask what part of Abyss you guys keep changing to make it work again/ what Nexon homes in on to detect it? I would think it's something very minor like variable names or something that you keep renaming/changing everytime Nexon upgrades to detect it.  Just a curious programming student~~

Not sure if this should be posted in this thread or the Frontend thread, but since it seemingly pertains to Abyss, I'm posting here. Feel free to move if necessary.

Removed and reloaded Abyss in Frontend, as per usual.  All seems fine until I attempt to log on to any of my characters, at which time I get "Item data is invalid" error message (screenie attached). When I click "OK", the client just shuts down.

Ran Frontend a 2nd time and removed Abyss, and was able to log in just fine.

Just attempted a fresh copy of abyss outside of Frontend, still got the same error message/behavior.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Currently as of this update Abyss functions for the most part aside from a couple features, but Blade is aware via the patchlog and me talking to him earlier.   Otherwise, working as intended for us.  There may be an update in the near future for Abyss.  You can wait and try again then, or wait until Proff is available as well.  I'm going to pass this onto the rest of staff.

Also I was posting as Blade updated, so there you go.  Let us know how things work out, Proff will be in later on.

Saw another post elsewhere that said to dump the data folder.  Just attempted that, then saw Blade's update. Downloaded another fresh copy of just Abyss and attempted logging in to no avail. I'll keep tweaking at it and see if I can fix whatever is ailing it. Thanks for the quick response!

So, at this point do we download abyss as usual, and just dump it into the appdata folder again?

You can try that route, but with FrontEnd it's a bit different how Proff sets it up.  He will be in later though.

Okay, so. The issue apparently has something to do with Frontend in conjunction with Abyss.  I dumped the data folder and attempted to update with Frontend. That didn't work. So, I dumped the data folder again.  This time without updating Frontend, I was able to log in just fine.

Apparently, I just needed to ignore Frontend until Professor has had a chance to re-work it.

Thanks to all of you for the stellar work and diligence you have in keeping this stuff operational for the community! Your efforts are very much appreciated!

I'm having some trouble with running Abyss on my older PC (w7 64x). I've tried following all troubleshooting steps, but none have any specific fixes for this issue. The client, regardless of method used to launch (nexonlauncher, mabinogi.exe, mabidirectlaunch, powerpatcher), always has its process disappear very shortly after launching. I've reinstalled a clean client, used the repair function in the nexonlauncher, as well as modifying select parts of the Abyss.ini to see if something was triggering the process to disappear. The client runs normally without Abyss, and the issue is only present with Abyss.
Any other potential fixes would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Add your Mabinogi folder to the Anti-virus exceptions.

Also, for Mabinogi as well by adding these:
Mabinogi.exe, Client.exe, and eTracer.exe, eTracer.aes.exe

and if you have these:
ngmsetupus.exe, nxsteam.exe

to the DEP exception list

It worked! Adding Mabinogi.exe, Client.exe, and ngmsetupus.exe to DEP did the trick for me. I really appreciate your quick response and fix for my problem. Thank you very much.

As I don't see anyone else saying this, I have to assume I'm the only one getting this, but even with the latest update, I've been getting NGSed.

More than likely your NGS related files (security) is out of whack.  I fixed someone up earlier today and that did the trick.  We'd done it on a few occasions before via TeamViewer, but this time I talked them through it.  They also have the chat log now for reference. :)  Start with some screen caps if you can please of your files organized by date, one showing the most recent, one showing anything with etracer in the name, one showing files with NG in the name, one showing your BlackCypher directory contents, and finally one showing your Nexonguard directory contents as well.  We'll go from there.
