News

Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

Tfw Nexon spends more time updating NGS than their actual game.

But yeah I'm getting NGS'ed as well.

Yeah, pretty much.  I've been through their files, and some of what I've seen is rather buggy.  Some of these "fixes" I've included in Tiara.  They really need to start fixing stuff as well--priorities are a lil off. LOL

Yup, they blocked it again. Why/how are they blocking it so darn regularly now?

NGS is getting updated on the fly, whenever the client is running on your system. it probably scans it every few minutes. as long as the game is connected to the internet then the nexon guard program can receive it's updated 'dictionary' of things that will trigger without requiring a client restart before it's applied. *at least that's how I figure it's doing things...* Could someone that actually knows what their talking about explain how it does this, please? I'm sure we're all curious to learn a thing or two on exactly what's going on 'under the hood'.

Also, isn't the reason many things remain broken in NA Mabinogi because the main devs, South Korea, Dev Cat, are needed to change these things? since they are just publishers here?

As far as for major fixes, yes, totally.  When NA just has to translate over things, and localize files to NA, that's on them.  The current issues at least from what I've seen so far, are localization issues.  You can check this yourself if you like by diffing NA vs KR's files.

This is the nature of how things go... It's been going on for years now.  We play Cat and Mouse with Nexon.  Obviously, we're the Mouse.  Patchers get fixed, Nexon breaks them, repeat.  LOL

@all the rest
Also, I didn't respond to earlier posts, because I felt doing so would be rather redundant.  The current issue is known that NGS is rearing it's head again, and this is known.  The info has been forwarded on and people can post if they like, but we're essentially playing the waiting game.  It's rather routine lately that they update on Tue at some time and by Wed, most have issues (that is, unless they change their update schedule).  So they roll out security related stuff before they do the server restarts/updates, etc (fairly common).  If your client closes early, then you need to adjust the timing up.  This varies based on what you have running in the background etc (Also mentioned in a prior post and in the NGS issues thread).

Increase the top number by about 100 and try again until it does open.

This seems a bit different though, they never put so much effort into this, and for what? To maintain a policy they can't maintain? All in all it's pretty pathetic, I can only imagine how every day a Nexon employee logs on in here and thinks to himself "How dare they modify their client to attain better experience!". You'd think their time would be better spent elsewhere from business perspective.

- Getting MabiPake patched
- Fixing up their Engrish "Potatoman Meteor Strike Master"
- Adding name change & service change service
- Getting the money update from KR we were supposed to get 3 years ago where checks are now 10m, housing banks are now 50m, etc.
- Getting the ninja buff update that came in renovation.

You can make a whole darn list of things to do better than this, it's that sad.

You do realize you're talking about Nexon NA right? LOL  Even if someone does the work for them, which modders and others have done for quite some time, they still can't quite seem to get it right.  I think for them it's about limiting and controlling experiences and potential that KR already has in order to maximize cash flow.  This means they cut corners, do things passable enough to get by, and charge for things that were normally event items in order to do so.  Their focus isn't where it should be clearly.  If they were to adopt a lot of what JP and KR is already doing, then their cash flow would take care of itself.  Then they could focus on actually fixing the client and server side issues.  I guess, we're all still waiting on that one.   ::)

*Note*
There's a lot more that I didn't even mention, but I'd rather keep this brief.

To be fair, NA does make some things non-cash that KR had cash-only, like the expiration removal scrolls and such.

(Though KR relented to player complaints and made them craftable with the dungeon update.)

Don't get me wrong, NA does a lot of really annoying stuff, but I've been on KR and it's still Mabinogi and it's still run by Nexon, it's no magical wonderland.

Can confirm as well, I just got the NGS error.

Why are they blocking it though? Personally, I believe they are trying to bring in a new dawn. They don't want modders to be part of it.

Call my cynical, but i don't honestly believe that.  From my experience with nexon, a new game will get some attention from them for a bit, months-2 years maybe, with varying levels of activity on their part during that time frame.  After that they get extremely lazy with an update every now and then, poor server care, general bugs left unchecked, and just generally ignoring the majority of complaints from the playerbase unless it relates to item loss, nx activity, or account related such as locked out or hacked.  Even in the past, i've seen them claim to be taking an anti-modding stance, stepping up their game, with nothing really coming of it.  I don't recall ever seeing them take anything seriously normally past the 1 month mark of a claim, 2 tops, unless the game's still new.  Again, can call my cynical, but that's what i've noticed, though i may have overlooked some good in times i'm inactive or just plain forgot them.

i saw that, and the only thing i could think of was a video i watched a few hours ago

Just play the waiting game. I'm back from an event I went to so I can try and do something about it now. I'm testing an update as we speak.

Is that for frontend, or abyss?  If it's frontend, i would strongly suggest either posting in frontend thread, or making a tech support thread with all relevant details.  Prof maintains frontend while blade does abyss, posting issues about frontend in abyss thread is rather counterproductive.
