Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

You are pretty blunt, I'll reword question 1: What broken patches will absolute faff me out of the game if I try to use them. (Or Abyss actually has safety measures for it? Doubting)
Don't you NEED Crackshield to be on for Abyss to even work (Past Login?)
Well, if you are bored, play some Ben and Ed
Yay.
1: Broken patches won't prevent the game from launching. If a patch is detected to not work, it will not be applied.
2: Yes, but I don't see what that has to do with NGM? NGM does not interfere with Crackshield/Hackshield, so far as we can tell.
3: Eh.
4: Eh.

I know Nexon Game Manager is no risk, but what about the Nexon Game Security thing that keeps popping up?

Unrelated to hackshield, crackshield is not needed for Abyss or things like that anymore.

NGS has detection but it's weak.  You can literally rename exes to bypass it.

Does this current version of Abyss let me see color codes?

Nexon Game Security notices Cheatengine though.

And like I said in a post on this page, and like that thread states now, you can rename exes 'cause it just targets by name.

Make sure you're renaming and launching the right exe.  Specifically rename and launch the i386 or x64 exe in the CE install folder, make a new shortcut if needed.

EDIT: Gonna' go stick this in the thread too.

Apparently that does not work in Windows 10, as that is what I did.

Tried with regular exe, and the i386 one

You can see from the screenshot I'm using Windows 10 as well.

What are the EXACT steps you're taking?
Please be EXTREMELY detailed.

Any way to disable the text that the mod gives? I actually prefer the in-game text

I renamed Cheat Engine.exe to CEFun.exe, and Cheat Engine i386.exe to CEFuni386.exe. I had been using CEFun.exe to open the Client.CT file, but I also tried using CEFuni386.exe to open it, with the same results; being detected by Nexon Game Security. Incidentally, if I remember to force close Nexon Game Security using the task manager within 5 minutes of logging onto my character(typically I do it before then), then it does not notice anything, as it is not running. Also, Nexon Game Security points to BlackCypher.aes as the file it runs.

If you're on a 64-bit version of Windows, make a copy of the x86_64 exe and run that manually, then attach to the game and load the table from within that (do not double-click tables, which will run the launcher).

When you rename the files that would launch it, it asks you which "app" to open the table with, at which point you can choose new defaults, which when I did, I chose the files I wanted it to use, CEFun.exe, and then CEFuni386.exe, depending on which I was trying. Are you saying that those methods should not work?

Don't launch with associations.

1 - Rename the x86_64 exe (or i386 if you're on an old version of Windows) to something else like lolwutexe.  Do NOT include "CE" or "cheat engine" or anything like that in the name.  It tracks by name, thus renaming it in the first place.

2 - Launch that executable.  Make a new shortcut if you need to.  Do NOT use existing shortcuts, do not touch the main CheatEngine.exe (which is the launcher that chooses the actual version to launch based on your windows version).

3 - Attach and open the table from within that one you launched.  File - Load Table or whatever.  Or if you have the tables in your documents folder, it should ask if you want to auto-load after you've attached to Client.exe.

That's what I do and I'm not detected.

I might be dumb, but downloading the mod doesn't seem to give the HSLaunch.exe file.

Abyss no longer uses these files:

dinput8.dll
HSLaunch.exe
HSUpdate.vbs

If you check the dates on the contents...

Abyss.ini
ijl15.dll

are dated for today.  This along with the info on the first page of this thread confirms that as well--that you have the latest version.  Granted it wasn't mentioned in this thread or in the updates, but yes... Those files are no longer needed in order for Abyss to function. ;)

Just curious. Halfway through the final episode of Saga I, my interface stops reacting to any mouse functions. I can open and close windows in the game with buttons (hotkey assigned windows, esc to close) but anything on the interface I click with the mouse acts like it's intangible.

It always happens after the Macha fight, where you go to talk to Tarlach. Maybe the cutscene being cancelled causes some sort of glitch with the interface? I'm not sure, but I always have to force close.

Mabinogi never starts up, no matter how I start it, when I use the newest version of Abyss. The client window never opens.

I have that issue.  I believe mine's related to the auto cut-scene skip, don't remember having that issue outside of that.  Though now and then the client crashes randomly just for talking to NPCs, but that's different altogether.

Unfortunately, the new Abyss patch seems to hate my PC - it slows everything to a stuttering halt.  I've tried disabling part or all of the options, but the slowdown remains.  I'm sticking with the last version for now.  Running Windows 10, this is the first Mabinogi problem other than crashes on cutscenes I've had - it's the only function I use Abyss for.

Hey, Blade. Does the latest Abyss include the updated ijl15.dll from the KR version (as provided by Draconis)? I couldn't tell just by looking at the files.

Date wise and CRC no.  I honestly don't think it needs it.  I'm using the US version now with the latest Abyss (v219).  Supposedly they (Nexon) fixed the issues, but the thing is when the last update was done and I compared files and structure... There were indeed some changes.  Nothing was mentioned about the fixes/updates to these files...  I think they're trying to downplay and keep things hush hush so to speak so as to prevent exploits, etc.  I guess they figure the less people know, then the modding community will be less likely to capitalize on things. Who knows though really, only the Project Managers, Devs, and Admin (server side for Nexon) know for sure.

I am as well, and it works fine for me, though this obviously doesn't help you other than to let you know that it's indeed possible to work with Windows 10 Pro.  Where I'd start is remove all mods of any sort.  Use Power Patcher to revert back to at least v216/217.  The reason for this is so that it forces an update and pulls any relevant files that you need.  Make sure you have the appropriate libraries for your C++ stuff.  This is imperative in order for Mabinogi to work correctly.  Usually, The simplest solution is the right one.  So far it appears that your client has issues, because... Abyss relies on the client having all that it needs to run correctly.  This includes dlls, exes, security... packs... the whole ball of wax.

Please disregard the fact that it worked at x time or x date.  This isn't relevant.  Somewhere your files were affected.  If you get hung up on the fact that it worked at x time and x date, then the solution will repeatedly evade you.  It's because you're overlooking what it isn't instead of what it is that you currently have.  So PowerPatcher... This is the key.  Please see the thread on it and learn what you can about it.  Once you've eliminated Abyss and ANY other mods that you use... run the client clean and see what it does--how it behaves.  After this...  If things have went well you can add things back in one by one--starting with the latest Abyss.  If you've done all you can (and if it still doesn't work), then you can probably reach out for help provided if you're open to it.  Bear in mind anyone that chooses to help you will most likely repeat a lot of the same steps that you already may have done.  This is to be thorough.  I've fixed many clients and the issues were almost always the same.  Best of luck.
