I was guessing based on the most recently changed file in the .7z file, but I suppose the .ini is likely to be changed with every update. I was also hoping that there was a definitive way of being able to tell somewhere.

It'd actually make more sense to check the dll file's date, since that's what's actually being updated every time, but none of the files seem to match the date of the topic.

All the files, still in their compressed format, which does not match the thread title.



However... The changelog reflects this properly, and I do not see the issue here?  Every date matches, with a listed addition/change to go with each one.

Here's what I remember about Abyss problems back when it still worked:

Item Hooks completely down, been down for a while, don't expect a fix but it's broken. Very useful mods.

Multi-client prevents switching between window and fullscreen mode. If I start fullscreen, the second client must also be fullscreen, or otherwise does not open. If I open second client fullscreen, then switch either client to window and change windows, it turns grey. Cannot access other windows either, as the grey stays on top of everything. Can be fixed relatively easily by switching the window client back to fullscreen.

Also multi-client, sometimes if I do not stay on the same window while the world loads, it freezes and turns grey.

Another problem, commonly while multi-clienting, and it crashes, I cannot log on to the same character after reopening. Have to first log on to another character, log off, and switch to the character that crashed. Usually takes a few tries.

There was a slash command that crashes client, can't remember which.

Right clicking to toggle mods usually doesn't work.

As of recently, and I did report a few pages prior, Abyss completely stopped working. If I open via Direct Launch, Mabi is stuck to a completely white screen. Opening through client does not work at all, meaning I cannot open, gives error and closes. No reply so far, I have no idea why. Was told (by someone ingame) something about race.xml or something, but unfortunately, I cannot find where that was located in Abyss. Rather... I thought that was a Win 10 fix...

I'm on Windows 8.1 (Boot Camp), 13" rMBP.

The windows 10 fix is Vindictus, Abyss in some less common situations.

That's what I thought. But again, couldn't find any more info. One day Mabi crashed and I haven't been able to run it with Abyss ever since.

Tried both default Abyss settings, and turning everything off except data folder. Neither worked. I tried completely reinstalled Mabinogi and Abyss as well.

Its not like its public knowledge to folks that blade sometimes doesn't update the thread title. And that tidbit is buried anywhere from 25~45 pages back, idk since I operate with 50 post pages.
So logic does dictate that the title would be the last time it was updated.

My name keeps cropping up.  So gathered points of interest for me.  To me, it's fairly obvious what i was getting at.  I can't get what's going on through texty face's head though, so w/e.  He makes a valid point, that the date of a created ini is a good indication of the most recent update.  And i vaguely recall playtime actually mentioning this before, that abyss' thread title wasn't updated, but playtime made a post to inform us of such.  Offered a little more accurate info than my previous post, but the result for the person i quoted would have been the same in that they needed to go redownload from the original post.  So... don't know why â•°(　´◔　ω　◔ `)╯ keeps bringing my name up, so w/e.

So sorry if this is poorly placed, but are there any known workarounds for abyss for windows 10? I'm fine running the client until right after I put in my ID and PASS. Then it freezes with the not responding error.
I'm using a relatively new windows 10 computer.

Try restarting your pc, making an exception in the firewall/antivirus for mabi and crackshield.  Try running without the auto-secondary password input, if you have it on.  I remember the latter was mentioned in the past for causing issues to some people.  And sometimes a simple restart works wonders.

I just... i didn't assume people were that stupid, but apparently you do.  Common sense aside, the obvious is still obvious.  Derp moments happen, but to assume everyone's so stupid that they download a file, see that it's newer than is indicated, and therefore must repeatedly download in an attempt to get the correct file, from what i'm assuming is going to be the same location every time, is just beyond words.

Anyway, i've mostly lost interest in the matter.  If it comes to repeatedly pointing out the obvious, i have the luxury of being able to just stop talking.

Only thing i know of, is restart pc, or log out and back in of your pc account.
Use task manager to make sure it didn't end up in your startup programs.

I went to cmd
used taskkill /t /f /pid 18144 giving me an error: The process with PID 18144 (child process of PID 5476) could not be terminated. Reason: Access is denied.

and then when I go kill the PID of the parent it gives me this error: The process "5476"not found...

am I hunting a ghost here?

I'll try restarting now and see if it helps. I might need some advanced assistance T.T;;;

Yeah, you kind of are, it's the issue windows 10 has with mabi.  If you can't get it to close still, see if you can replace the files in your hshield folder.

This was supplied by beat1920.  It has stopped an issue with hackshield/crackshield i was having.  Where it would originally steal my mouse controls.  I've also not had issues with closing crackshield after a few test runs with it.  Not enough runs to be conclusive yet, i don't think, but there's still hope.  So, if you can replace hshield files, then this may actually help your issue.  Not making guarantees, but at this point i don't think it can hurt.

You might try doing a clean run, or at least let hackshield and nexonguard update, then try again.  I had pretty much the same issues, other than restarting or relogging completely turned off hackshield at least.  After failing some clean attempts at mabi, i put mods back and tried again and mabi worked.

It's all a royal pain in the backside.  If you get it working with mods though, i strongly advise you to never attempt to run it clean until nexon themselves fix the issue.  Cuz it's just not worth it.

IIRC it crashes outside of user-mode, so there's jack crap you can do about it other than ACTUALLY shutting down and restarting the computer.

You should go clean out your data folder and make sure you actually have updated files in there?  If you have an edited race.xml from r207 and then r209 comes along with an updated one for example, you need to go update that file or get an updated one.  Abyss will load your mods, but it will not do anything else.  It doesn't move them, it doesn't update them for you, it doesn't check for issues or outdated files, etc.

And for FSAA, you need to turn it on in-game.  NA refuses to save/load the setting but Abyss will allow it to be selected as an actual graphical option.

That file you told me to use was indeed a solution to the whole problem. The old version of Crackshield.exe is incompatible with windows 10. This is why it was not able to be forced closed. It remains open unless you "restart" your computer. If you shut down... it remains in the "details" tab of the task manager.

Idk much about coding but seems like the reason for all this trouble is simply that windows 10 cannot recognize the code within the program, but since it might be similar just invalid (such as syntax errors, etc), it can open but not function properly. Also it might be using some old functions and coding that the new windows 10 can't execute.

Overall, thx for all the help guys (on the forum), Fl0rn, and beat1920 for the updated Crackshield.exe you're all lifesavers!

Hey I finally found a fix for this, all you need to do is run HSlaunch log out of your computer and log back in then run Hslaunch again and then that should let you log in I was having the same exact problem but I found a work around Gl
