Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

Problem: BugTrap (Client.exe) has stopped responding when trying to log in.
Solution:...

I'd advise people read the first post in its entirety.  May be boring, but there are tips that you could try and cross your fingers.  If it still fails, post your logs in tech support and provide details on the steps you went through up to the crash, any abnormalities you noticed, exactly what happened at the crash, and if you're using mods, tiara, abyss, or some other set up.  Details are important, and if you want help you should show the courtesy and respect to those who are willing to help you, by proving you are listening to what's being said.

I got this to work fine but my issue is it seems like most of the item mods dont work, such as view hex color and true durability. the only one that seems to work is it's showing shop prices. I checked the .ini and they are enabled.

Read the modding reports.
They are sticky threads for a reason.

Here's a quick list of the status of mods:
  • Frontend (The Proffessor): Updated
  • Unofficial Tiara (ShaggyZE/Draconis.Pendragon): Updated
  • Poison Pack (Venom Log): Assumed No Update Needed
  • Abyss (Blade3575): Assumed No Update Needed, a few patches still broken for the moment

R204 Update: Magic revamp, affecting some of the db files, i.e itemdb, animationevent, race, etc. as well as some translation files.
R205 Update: Archery revamp, same kind of updates as in R204.
R206 Update: minor itemdb and translation edits, nothing major.
R207 Update: Added Alban Knight's Training Grounds, just the basic xml's affected.
R208 Update: Added stuff for end of summer events, just the basic xml's affected again.
R209 Update: minor translation edits, but nothing mod-related.
Also, since R203 Update: updated compiling for the core, so a lot of memory patchers will have broken patches for the time being.

More to come as new details surface.

I mean... It's both one of my defaults for issuing warnings, as well as in the rules

6* Research your questions. - You don't want to look like an idiot when you ask something like "Where do I get this Mod?" or "How can I make this work?"

So go ahead and report them, but don't go crazy about it, it's not really the kind of thing I'll moderate unless like... Not reading the post literally above yours, or those people who posted on my guide asking me how to do something I wrote in the guide.

Can't speak for the rest of the team, but I've only ever bothered  with the most ridiculous of examples.

What about the people who don't read my first post? I kind of have a common problems section, so even if they just skimmed it they should have seen the section and looked at it.

I just meant my thread as an example, so yeah, I would be including things like yours,  and Tiara, etc.

But not things lost in the vast pages of your thread/tiara's, or less readily available information, but first post for sure.

Basically, anything that actually takes effort to have NOT read.
Although I also have to recommend changing up the wording/formatting of the posts, to make it easier to find.  Maybe less so Abyss, but Tiara's use of colors, does make it quite difficult to read on the various themes of the site.

Hey, how can we turn off disable cut scenes? I'm currently redoing the mainstream quests, so I'd like to read the dialogue again. Thanks! :)

Read the modding reports.
They are sticky threads for a reason.

Since people seem to be making a big deal about it, the specific issues I mentioned aren't mention in what you linked at all, just that "a few patches are still broken".

Does this mean that at any time I experience an issue I shouldn't report the bug, I should just shrug and go "oh well, it DID say a few patches are still broken, I'm sure reporting the issue would just be a waste of time"

The issues weren't even discussed in the entire 10 post thread so how is anyone supposed to know what specific issues are known and not known to exist?

I guess time and experience.  True durability for example, hasn't worked for a while.  I would assume that one's common knowledge to people.  But then you got leeches who come in here without paying attention or knowing anything about the modding world, say that it's broke and just generally be a pain over something the rest are sitting there going 'derp' over.  So i mean, report issues if you want, but some people will act a bit rude not because of your effort, but because of the repeated leeching stupidity, regular users here get tired of being told something doesn't work.

If you really wanna help though, take a look at the first post, find what isn't listed in it and is broke, and message op or a moderator a clear detailed list of what's not working for you and that you don't see it listed in the op.  Mind your manners though, as even ones that don't readily jump to mind, you'll be primarily repeating ones they know don't work and if you come across haughty or hateful, well expect to be jumped for it.

You spoke my mind... I have to say, I'm very grateful for the guys here making and updating these mods, but really, don't expect help. They bite. Yea, I can understand the leeching and repetitive questions get annoying, but most forums have slightly less edgy solutions. Like you said, it's best to stay quiet and leech. What's broken prolly won't get fixed, what works will work until it gets broken. So far, Abyss itself is broken to me, for unknown reasons, no reply as you'd expect. Tried to get help before, since it's not like there's a guide for everything, or that you would know where and what and how to look or do something from the start... Not the friendliest forum ever. Keep thinking they should drink some milk or have some chocolate, lack of calcium and sugar makes people angry.
Not just Abyss... experienced problems with Frontend and Tiara (before), no help from there either.

From experience. Spoke my full, now someone please jump me for it.

* Maharaja Playtime waves imaginary banhammer!

How dare you speak, peasant!

But no, actual serious time now...
Yes we bite, but because 99% of posters are just begging to have everything handed to them, and refuse to do anything for themselves, not even basic reading.  It ruins it for that 1% willing to actually put it in effort, or looking for information not displayed in the big high traffic areas.

If you want to avoid that, it's as simple as just shove details into your post, details you don't even think matter, the more details added, the more help received.
Except for Frontend.. Not enough people use Frontend to properly assist with it, and I'm in the process of rebuilding PCs and registry editing and all kinds of fun stuff, so I've been lacking access to the frontend client to troubleshoot it.
Can't speak for others, but I'm easily the most vocal one here, so that's my reason.

But that seems like a big list of things broken for you, PM me and I can get things working.

I'd say i'm pretty vocal and honest on here.  Just that the matter has to be worth my time.  As playtime says, there are plenty of people who come in here, want stuff whether it's help or a mod, and don't bother to read even the basics, or reasearch an obvious keyword for their problem.  Things like a hackshield number, which could easily be searched and would provide sufficient answer to solve the problem within 3 mins, in 90% of the cases.  I generally will only tell them to search, or flat out not touch them.  Other things, like people posting in this abyss thread about something like having issues with right-clicking mabi in the taskbar, for the extra menu, and having it cause problems.  I'm just thinking 'oh, that's covered in the first post,' or 'that was discussed not 5 posts ago,' and i won't touch those either.

Naturally, if it's a topic that an individual isn't experienced in, it's hard to say something worth posting.  I can't really help with frontend, and i also have no interest in frontend.  I can help with tiara some, purely cuz it's data folder and i know how that works.  As for tiara itself, i don't use it.  Abyss is meh.  Sometimes i can, sometimes i can't.  I lack the coding knowledge, and interest, for the finer points.

I do however, submit myself to trial and error to figure out problems, and when i find it i try to volunteer the information i gathered so that it can help others.  However, to be told i ignore people or insulted, when i can see posters coming in, begging for a fix that could be done in 10 mins and under with searching or trial and error, is tantamount to mud-slinging to me.  You don't want help, or you want to be rude because your particular case isn't gotten to fast enough, or you're not helped 100% of the time, then i'd just say go somewhere else.  Find some other site to cover your 'needs' or use google.  No need to slander people who have put in effort to give you mods to help you enjoy your game more, simply because they don't jump when you say.

May be a bit harsh, but i'm afraid this is one of those times i think it's deserved.  I kept the discussion clean though.  I could ramble/rant on, but it'd be fairly repetitive.  So i'll end with simply, consider the other person's perspective, and make sure you reflect effort made when you make posts.  Like playtime implies(?), lack of details is frustrating to those who would volunteer help, and the details reflect effort made.

Except the date on the file info doesn't necessarily have to match the date of the thread.

(Downloads latest Abyss, just now)
(Looks at file info)

Date created/access < Date of thread (Better redownload)
Date modified > Date of thread (Abyss of the future)

Common Problems in Abyss during use.

* Even with Yiting's Microsoft Exception thread bypass in Windows 8 and up updated for the Visual C++ 2010 in which the main client is coded on, There are still minor but problematic issues when an exception is thrown. Very rarely will the client throw an exception to VC++ but it's mostly known to appear at random during Peeca Dungeon (Duke's cutscene can trigger at random). It is unknown why.
* The Secondary Password mod that Plonecakes coded works differently from the previous version. Due to a Pointer Error on the code, when the cursor is highlighted on specialized buttons in the secondary keyboard window (OK, Cancel, Shuffle Keys, Caps Lock, Shift) the Client will either respond unusually or crash.
* Multi Client will sometimes not work on certain types of computers, trigger is unknown.
* IsolateUISave does not save the skill order in the skill window, reason unknown. (Willing to bet it has something to do with hard coded features.)
* ItemHooks does not work at all. The hooks has dramatically changed in the new assembly and has became a problematic issue for both of us. (We're secretly hoping the Chinese or Japanese will fix it someday...)
* SMMinute does not work. Unable to understand how it works under new assembly code.
* The Zoom mod has minor changes then how it used to work from the previous assembly code.
* Some slash commands are outdated or crashes (?)
* Debug mod can crash due to Bugtrap's Initialization error, reason unknown.
* When using /sync, opening the quest window can crash the game. There is an unofficial fix for this but it has not been implanted due to fear it will cause conflict within saving quests in the marker.

That was actually directed towards Fl0rn for assuming the ini's date would necessarily indicate whether abyss is up to date.

I was guessing based on the most recently changed file in the .7z file, but I suppose the .ini is likely to be changed with every update. I was also hoping that there was a definitive way of being able to tell somewhere.
