Anyone having compatibility issues with HSLaunch and Windows 10? It appears that it's working for some, though that isn't the case for me.
I can get the game started with the start Vindictus first workaround, but would be nice if I could just skip that process altogether. It'd also be nice to be able to use Abyss again.

That's your problem if you're not using it.

Looking back, I never explained my problem. Crackshield isn't working for me. I can get mabi started with the workaround, but I can't get it started with Abyss with the workaround because the workaround launches hackshield, meaning I can't use crackshield.

Try this:


1) Reboot your PC. (Important!)
2) Launch Vindictus, and be ready to crash it.
3) After the splash screen goes away, and the game itself finally launches, rapidly click spam the game (note, run in windowed mode) it will quickly stop responding.
4) Click the X on Vindictus, it will say not responding, do you wish to wait or close.  Close it.
5) Launch crackshield.
6) Launch mabi through whatever method you use, personally I vary between direct launch shortcut, and mabinogi.exe


I have done this exact thing on over 30 different PCs now. Only once did it fail, to which the game was reinstalled and all mods replaced with updated copies, it then ran fine (I believe a race XML was the cause behind the one failure, but cannot verify, the user insisted on a reinstall instead of looking into it)

I've seen your thread in the general discussion board, but there wasn't much that helped with this particular issue. What I gathered from it was just how to run the game without Abyss enabled. I assumed that with hackshield running on Vindi I'd be unable to get crackshield working with mabi in the same way, as well as since they're different things it wouldn't matter if I had started Vindi first.

On another note, as reported by others, I'm unable to kill crackshield without a reboot. Aside from that I haven't really run into any other issues with regards to Windows 10.

You were assuming Crachshield can't be started when Hackshield was already running? I always wait till Hackshield is running to start Crackshield so I don't have to worry about HS breaking itsself and Mabi when it tries to update.

I removed Abyss and reinstalled it again and now it works again c:

I added a little update to avoid PendingFileRenameOperations registry entry generated from hackshield.
Since hackshield always adds 4~5 lines to it in every launching up, if you don't reboot your computer in a long time, this entry will become extremely huge (over thousands lines...), and you may not able to install other programs or updates until restarted computer.
*Do NOT try to delete this entry manually, other setup program or windows update may use it already.

Additional file HSUpdate.vbs is a helper script for manually update hackshield without running game client.

Alright, so. I've recently upgraded to windows 10 and already knew that mabi was having issues with it, looked up a fix and it was either downloading vindictus or trying out crackshield. After a couple trial and errors, I got crackshield working and was able to log into mabi, the issue is. I cannot fully close/uninstall crackshield.

Here is what I have tried and what happens, I have double clicked/brought up task manager and end task'd it. It disappears from my processes in the task manager, but I got rainmeter(UI Program) that shows me it is still running and eating up 45%-50% of my CPU.
I've tried deleting it, and I'm unable to because it is still running.
I've tried shutting down my computer and turning it back on, and it is still there running.
I've tried turning it back on, and it starts up like normal with a pop up appearing bottom right corner, double clicking it, the icon disappears but still unable to delete it because windows says it's still running.

Seriously out of ideas to try now, any help is appreciated.

Solved, booted the computer in safe-mode and was able to delete crackshield.

This, lol. Computer felt laggy and this was the only thing that could've been causing it that I saw.

I was able to delete it in the end, booted the computer in safe-mode, deleted it and it was gone at the next restart. Bit of a derp on my end for forgetting to try that, lol.. /o/

The crackshield taking memory, i can confirm.  It doesn't happen 100% to me, but it does happen.

For me, i load crackshield, it pops up in my system tray, and i can launch mabi.  Every now and then though, crackshield will show up in the system tray like normal, but i can't double-click it to close it, i can't use task manager to close it, and i can't use task manager with admin privileges to close it.  Same for stopping the process. 

In these scenarios though, crackshield not only has issues closing, but screws up mabi too.  I'll type my account info, and i think after i hit log in and before the second password, it will crash the game.  Don't remember what the error was, not testing atm.  Only way to close crackshield and play again, is to restart the system and try till it works, in this situation.


I play on a laptop, and use a usb mouse.  Optical/wired.  When i can play mabi with no issue, and after i close mabinogi, then i have a mouse issue after closing crackshield 90% of the time.  Normally, it locks my usb mouse.  I can't move it or click to make it do anything.  The mouse is just froze.  Of the times it freezes, 70%-80% of the time i can slide my finger across the touchpad, and functionality of my mouse is restored.  Don't know why, but it works.  The other 20-30%, i just have to completely restart the system to get it to work.  I haven't actually tried unplugging and plugging it back in yet, didn't think of it till i typed this post and i've not played mabi in like a week.



No other issues come to mind atm, that haven't popped up prior to my windows 10 update.   Whether you find the information sufficient or the source credible enough at this point, is up to whoever wants to poke around.

I've being having a fatal error on mabi when i use the abyss's "ijl15.dll". The client simply don't execute. I have a windows 7 OS  64bit, with a currently working crackshield, and a newly downloaded mabinogi game obtained with Nexon's new launcher.

I also backup a full updated version of the final download i made date (17/Aug/2015). But once i paste the extracted abyss files obtained from the page "http://blade3575.net63.net/Abyss/" to the clean game directory in "C:\Nexon\Library\mabinogi\appdata", i don't get the client to work.

I  also followed the "Common problems" section on the webpage "https://mabimods.net/index.php?topic=14126.0" which has a topic of "[June 6, 2015]Abyss Patcher R204", and as far as i could do, was to make the client window open for 1 second, and then it crash. By editing the "Abyss.ini", i notice that the "Bitmap=1" value,  was causing the client window to never show, and the "Scouter=1" was doing the same thing.

The issue has being happening to me even before i had downloaded the new mabinogi game files in (16/Aug/2015), so basically i have no idea why it started to happen. I remember using Abyss before with my two computers, and never had such issue. If i remember well, i think the issue started after one of the updates before the renovation season. Since then, I've being playing mabi without mods.

I would be very grateful to have some help. Thanks

Does anyone else use the "Enable Maximize button and start maximized." and have it not actually maximize at start for them? Maximize button still works.

I use the window size and position options to basically maximize the screen without it being maximized.

I used to do that, but I saw the new(?) option in abyss not too long ago. I prefer not having the window borders around at all.

I often run multi-client so I like having it almost maximized but a slight gap on the side so I can switch easily between them.

It requires two edits, which I wasn't aware of. I've fixed it but haven't reuploaded it yet since there are other things I want to implement before doing so, just haven't had any drive to do so.
