Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

I need to ask: why?

Not him. But as much as I admire devcat"s directation and camera positioning by displaying parts of the environment related to the lore in intense reactions (up until g17 anyways. They lost their touch after bella"s death). It does become a nuisance after watching the imp introducing NPCs in tourneys after 300 times or when you already seen the red spider growing huge in alby.

So... to skip cutscenes?

I once edited a function where if the client cannot load a cutscene due to odd reasons. Then the client would immediately sent a packet to the server to end the cutscene. This used to work for MA. But as patches wemt by. It started to glitch out MA, not causing the mission to load. And I really can't be bothered to waste 10k for 1 debug each to study it out.

Hey everyone!

I've been getting an error when attempting to log in after extraction of abyss.rar into my Mabinogi Folder. The error I get is "0xe9040018," which according to a quick glance search in Google, describes a hackshield error. However, this shouldn't be a problem since I have followed the steps--as instructed on the first page of the thread--of running HSLaunch.exe prior to opening Client.exe. Furthermore, I've even ran the HSUpdate.exe found in the HShield Folder as well and still no luck! If anyone has a solution, please don't hesitate to point me in the right direction! If this has been addressed, please also don't hesitate to link the post to me (I'll admit that I have only read the first and last five pages of this thread)! Oh and I'm also running Windows 7!

Don't run the one inside the HS folder. Run the HSUpdate.vbs included with Crackshield/Abyss.

Thanks for the reply @thatguysteve, but unfortunately running the HSUpdate.vbs included with Abyss still yields no success and results with the same error. I've enclosed a screen shot to hopefully attract some help from fellow members!

Do you have a data folder? Make sure it's up to date and nothing in it is outdated (this mainly pertains to features.xml.compiled).

@thatguysteve,

Hmm, I actually do have a data folder, but unfortunately since I've just recently came back into the realms of Mabinogi, I have no idea how to differentiate between an updated Data Folder or an old Data Folder. Should I download a newer version of the data folder (If so, where could this be found)? Is there a way I can tell whether my Data Folder is up to date or not? For what it's worth, I've downloaded Mabinogi onto my Desktop about half a year ago but since then haven't touched or updated the client. It wasn't until yesterday afternoon that I opened Mabinogi and went through the patch updates. Again if there are any other tips, please don't hesitate to point me in the right direction! =D

@thatguysteve

Nope--even with the Data Folder removed, I'm still getting the same error code as before. I've even restarted my computer, in hopes of some miracle but to no avail.

One thing that I'm noticing is that prior to the extraction of the Abyss.rar into my Mabinogi folder is that whenever I would start Mabinogi, a BlackCipher anti hacking banner would appear right before the game would load as usual; whereas, currently with the Abyss files extracted into my Mabinogi Folder, I'm noticing that it doesn't pop up prior to loading the game. Could this be the culprit of my problem or does the CrackShield provided by Abyss renders the BlackCipher obsolete?

Okay wait.

Did you actually remove your data folder?

You didn't just rename it to data1 or something did you?

People do that a lot, and stuff will still find and use it.

Obliterate it.

(And yes Crackshield stops HS and associated stuff from loading.)

Hmm. Yeah, I removed the Data Folder from the Mabinogi folder and tried loading the game as usual--still no avail. I completely removed the Data Folder and yet still no avail. I've since given up and reverted back to playing normally, without the Abyss in the folder.

I guess until I find or someone offers a compelling solution, I'll just stay mod-free (I highly doubt someone is going to go out of their way just to help me, since they're not really going to benefit from the act--so meh). Although, I really do enjoy the perks and much of the headache reductions of mods, having a client that actually loads and is error free is much more preferable.

Thanks for the replies @thatguysteve and @Rydian.

I'm throwing around some quick info i see, you said you searched the code yourself and tried some things, so skip over any redundant parts.  Before anything, if you're not running crackshield program with admin privileges, do that first.  I'm following with my normal rambling, trying to stay on topic.  If you feel any degree of concern regarding this, try and get second opinions and feedback at least.  Going to bed after posting, so don't expect much from me for the next few hours.

Usually when there's something wrong with flag/type handler you get a 0xE9040018 (Abnormal hackshield status) or 0xE9040019 (Hacking tool detected) I believe. Your hackshield folder may be missing files or don't have the modded HS files after modding for whatever reason (maybe antivirus deleted them or quarantined them?).

I'm not really sure how to fix this but you could try to patch the HS folder again to make sure all files are there. Otherwise maybe someone has a HS folder after modding they can upload for you. You could also post some pics of what it looks like inside your HS folder for others to quickly take a look and see if you're missing files in it?

That's really all the pointers I can give you. You may have to wait for one of the actual mabimod technicians to help.

People recommend doing the hackshield.vbs.  This may screw things up, so you'll want some good feedback before doing any of the following.
I've had issues with hackshield in the past.  The .vbs script, i never needed to actually run it.  I've always used the normal launcher, in the mabinogi folder, to let the game update.  Then after i just launch the game, without crackshield loaded.  Hackshield and nexon guard udpates, and probably 19/20 times i'll have the game working perfectly fine.  More commonly, when hackshield has no issues, i don't even update it.  Just update the client, launch crackshield, and then close the launcher and direct launch mabi, just cuz my launcher likes to be screwy.

Certain files are required to run hackshield updater i think, but you might try figuring out which files are necessary and then removing the rest out of the default directory, for hackshield.  Update hackshield after that, to make sure none of the files are screwy.

Again, what i suggested is primarily half-hearted attempts when nothing else works.  I can't claim they'll do anything at all, and may complicate things in another manner even.  So it's up to your discretion on what to try.

I haven't gotten that exact error code before, but an error message in that window usually means Crackshield isn't working or just isn't running. If you didn't forget to run hslaunch as admin, them you probably forgot to close hslaunch before running the updaters.

If HSLaunch wasn't running, you'd get a prompt telling you so, not a Hackshield message.
Afaik, you don't need to run HSLaunch as admin. I never have and it works completely fine.
If you tried updating Hackshield without closing HSLaunch, the updater would tell you so through an error message.

You've never had an issue with that?
Apparently not.
Please describe a situation in which sync would come in handy.

Character position gets desynched often, usually due to lag. If it's by a small amount, moving by clicking and then waiting a while, or running around in circles can fix it, but that's not always an option in combat.

This also would have been useful all those times i got stuck behind an obstacle and didn't find out till the client thought i was on the other side of the map(back when moongates ran on a schedule and ppl actually had to walk sometimes).

So you're telling me that typing "/sync" is faster than clicking a spot right next to you?
And more convenient in combat? Taking your hand off of your mouse, moving it to the keyboard, making you even more vulnerable in combat, to type with both hands "/sync", wait for the server to send you back your character data (which, if you're lagging, will take a bit) is faster than moving your character a tiny bit?

Regardless of whether it's faster, a slight de-sync of your character's position barely affects you during combat, since nearly everything is target based, and when it's not, you're unlike to have the time to perform the steps given above.

This also would have been useful all those times i got stuck behind an obstacle and didn't find out till the client thought i was on the other side of the map(back when moongates ran on a schedule and ppl actually had to walk sometimes).
The server is a lot smarter now compared to back then. It will actually refresh your position if it sees that you're trying to run through and obstacle, so this is no longer an issue, though you bring it up.

Just wanted to say, guns.
Things like bullet slide, if you're not synced right, it will not work.  If i'm using bullet storm or shooting rush, i have ample time to do something like type /sync.  I hold conversations during many of my fights.

I don't bother with /slash commands, other than logout and exit, so i'm not too interested in this.  But i'm saying it's quite practical for someone with moderate typing speed and/or a bit of lag, to use a command like this.  Given my left hand position hovers over the left control, it don't move far, only my right hand does.

If you have ample time to type "/sync", then you have way more than enough time to wait an extra half a second and clicking over one extra step before loading your skill in order to let the server catch up.

Oh? Allow me then;

This thread isn't here for you to disagree with people.  Just because one thing is better for you, doesn't mean it is for others.
Easy example, my tilde key is a macro that will press enter to open chat, paste my slash command for another game since I don't play this one, and then enter again to send it.

Even though I may not apply to mabi, the point stands not everybody is doing things the same as you.

If you're using the current abyss, I don't feel this is it, as it seems other mods related.  For sure, you want to double check Blade's first page and make sure you covered all steps he mentions there...

Most likely Causes:
Outdated xml files.  As of 204a, of the files currently... This isn't an issue.
Corrupted packs, caused by DataPacker using outdated xml files.  This happens when people forget to unpack the mods/remove them from their packs.  They remove the data folder  and try to run DataPacker, but then DataPacker has nothing to work with to remove the mods...  You then have corrupted packs and need to get new ones, or pray that you can undelete that data folder and then remove them from your packs.  If this works, then once the packs have had the mods removed you can then rid yourself of that data folder.

There was a windows update/program side/client update of sorts.  This means that you have to remove abyss and disable mods (rename your data folder and/or remove them via DataPacker).  Boot the client normally until you get to the login screen, after making sure you have the right   ijl15.dll (ijl15.dat renamed to .dll -- aka the original file).  For additional info on this please reference my guide in my sig which mentions the pitfalls and things to be aware of.  It also mentions the past few things there.

Did another clean install to restore packs, and turns out it was a Nexon Guard error.  After clean install, I ran the clean client once to update/set up NG, and then modded the files, and it didn't crash afterwards.

Also, @blade, saving UI locally does not work with extra skillset 1 and 2 (the floating skill placement rectangles); they get reset every time you change computers.  Any thought/fixes?

Nexon Guard seems to be the culprit to most people's woes.  Unfortunately, the only way that people know this is if they go through the steps that are outlined in my guide, and also when others acquaint themselves with Blade's first post as well.  I'm glad you learned something, and now I'm reasonably sure you won't forget it.  So, there's the silver lining there.  As far as 2nd hotkeys... This is something, I don't seem to have an issue with as far as both my lappy and desktop.  I copy the same files from my desktop to the lappy, and have had no issues.  Best of luck.
