Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

Giant Bandits
« on: October 30, 2011, 01:44:22 pm »
This makes them easier to see, does not increase the range at which the bandit fight is triggered.  Only works on hidden bandits, when the fight scene is triggered the bandits are all normal sized.  Post includes do it yourself, as well as download link.

The do it yourself method:

Extract into your mabinogi folder, and use something that reads data mods, such as data packer.

EDIT:  Yeah, i went back and did a few edits on this post, more i looked at it the more it bugs me.  Rearranged the text a bit, and change the ogre image to a different one, cuz i thought it looked kinda funny.

This looks very nice and handy. Thanks for the mod!

Will changing the value of "color=XXXXXX" (i.e color="633C31") to another value change their color in general? Like turn them the same red color we see when we're on deadly status? I was hoping to turn them into something brighter and increase their size a little bit too.

You can try, i haven't messed with it.  Was simply more convenient for me to increase their size over playing with colors that stood out best in various areas and lighting.

Certainly. Thanks again for this useful mod. I'll be using this then.

Hmm, what about, giant...pink... bandits..?

But on another note, bandit spawns aren't random I think, it depends on your goods and the spawn areas, so a map might be more useful to make, right?  I'll try to release a map if it turns out that they aren't random at all.

Would it be possible to do this with Ancient Mobs so they stand out more? This seems very useful

I don't think it's random otherwise Devcat dun goofed when they put bandits behind walls and map barriers/transitions.

Probably not, since it's a serversided title effect.  But they're already easy to spot.
Like the bear twice as big as the others, the ogre with the grotesque bulging body, the hippo the size of your house, the fox cub half the size an actual fox.

Goodie, my work shall not be in vain. I'll put it up in a few days, if I have time, but it'll be here soon enough.

There is a function in Standard.dll called GetBodyScale()...

Isn't the whole CRT bypass issue affecting any DLL edits or modification? Or am I off-base as to what it is?

As far as the public cares.

Here on mabimods, those who can create, can "bypass"
We're not allowed to release it though, a little research though, may help you find it.

No, no, I mean, without a bypass, making any DLL edits wouldn't work, correct?  My only point is that it isn't a valid option for the general public, or more directly via pack files.
I know full well where I can dig it up, it's just pointless, assuming we're on the same page on that at least.

I can't get over the fact that I would move farther away for a bigger bandit, increasing time for no reason. But, if you're an inattentive merchant, this would be a great mod. Another fabulous mod (and idea) Fl0rn.

Well i gave the info of what i modded.  It's relatively easy to decrease the size to a more reasonable adjustment as needed.  As chocolatecupcake pointed out, there's other values like skin color you could play with as well.  You're more than free to edit the values/file yourself to find something better suited for you, and i'm sure some others wouldn't mind seeing what tweaks get made to the bandits as well.  One of the fun things about skin mods, is the freedom of customization.

If anything definitive is decided with making a map for bandit mods, i'd love to hear back on it.

Thanks for the encouragement.
