... Well, more of a confirmation than a totally new discovery for me, since I recall it was like this with Morrowind and IMVU .... so I figured I'd try it with Mabinogi...
... Textures can be rescaled.
Generally seems to work best in multiples of the original dimensions...
BUT... if I find a texture for a particular mesh has dimensions of 64 x 64 and I want to work with something a little higher resolution, I can scale it up to 128 x 128, or 256 x 256, or 512 x 512 ... and it still maps perfectly. Heck, I could probably amp it up to 6400 x 6400 if I felt like it. That would be a tad insane though. Would cause hella lag.
If you're wondering, that is a lost elf in a muffler robe.
I actually gave it the texture from the Anti-Fomor Robe from G3... then I decided to change the markings on the front and sides to see what I could do with them. And since they were too pixelated, I tried rescaling the mesh... and it worked perfectly. Higher-resolution, sharper, finer, nicer texture. I mean I could have gone even further, but I don't see any need to go OTT with the graphics when my computer is kinda crappy as is...
Besides, I didn't use any smoothing or anti-aliasing... so it still looks a bit... edgy.
... Hmmm... It would probably look better if I had my graphics settings higher... but still. No biggie.
... Maybe I'll get rid of that funny spike ridge on the top of the hood. It doesn't look as good as I thought it would... =/
Besides, I think my elf looks better in her Shadow Alchemist robe anyway.
...... So... should I try "improving" other early Mabi textures? A lot of the earlier textures look like pixelated crap, and could probably do with being a bit sharper... or otherwise improved. ^_^
