Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

Mab will not start for me i run Hs launch then try to run Launch Client and 1x i have w8ed over 20 mins for it to come up and it did not
I am on Windows 8

Not really a specialist on Tiara but here are some things I've noticed when installing the mod for my friend on windows 8. Hope they may help?

I'm sure you ran the Tiara installer, selected the mods you wanted, installed abyss, waited for the files to download, and then adjusted your Abyss.ini preferences correctly.
So from there on the installer may then freeze on you or call up command prompt that runs for a while (to change registry values?) and then closes by itself.

Windows 8 never has the command prompt come up properly at the end of Tiara installation for some odd reason so don't worry about it.

But you can still make sure the mods are properly applied by running Data Packer without HSLaunch/crackshield running.
Hit 'Find' and lots of modification files should show up. Hit Modify and the files should say modded then. Then you can close the packer

Now run HSLaunch.exe. Check to see if a crackshield icon comes up in the tray. Make sure it stays around while you're launching.
Then you can run the client mabinogi.exe or run _mabinogi.exe (for the multiclient mabinogi launcher plus). If you're using the _mabinogi.exe make sure you select the correct server (North America, US is what i'm assuming you play on) and check to see if the locale and server versions are matching. If they are then you can hit launch. If they are not matching then it means either you didn't pick the server corresponding with your regional client or your client needs to be patched still. If you need to patch just run mabinogi.exe and it should autopatch or run the patcher from _mabinogi.exe.

Also try right-click and run as admin for all of them. Check task manager for "consent.exe" under processes. This is the admin dialogue that should pop up but can take a while sometimes.
Otherwise check if client.exe is running at all in processes.

If it still doesn't come up check to see if you have a 'data' folder in your mabinogi folder and if you have your abyss.ini preference set and saved to:

;Forces the Client read from the data folder before the pack files.
         DataFolder=1

You can also check the abyss_patchlog.txt to see if your mods were applied correctly.

And if all fails then you should uninstall all mods, make sure you start over with a new clean mabinogi folder (hopefully you had a backup to copy over from), and then try to install the mods again.

You should make sure crackshield/HSLaunch is not running when you uninstall. Run Data Packer.exe and click Remove Mods and close it. Then run the Unofficial Tiaras Uninstaller.exe in the mabinogi folder and it should uninstall everything it had placed in the folder for modding (HSlauncher, data packer, _mabinogi.exe, autobot, data folder, etc various other files). Now your mabi should be completely unmodded and it should run properly (try it now to see). But if you're really picky about a completely clean folder (since the uninstaller leaves behind some files sometimes for whatever reason) you should delete the whole mabi folder and copy and paste over your backup.

Hope you can figure out what's wrong! :D

I installed the mod. Insured the mods were installed with data packer. Ran the installer again so it would "update". Then turned off windows defender. Suspect it was blocking abyss. Ran hslaucher(crackshield) as administrator, then ran client.exe as administrator. Seemed to fix my issue. Thanks again! :) :)

I just got back into modding and recently installed the latest version of Tiara. I've done everything as mentioned in the posts before this current one--updating HSUpdate, opening DATA Packer and modding every single file, and  opening HSLaunch and Mabinogi as Administrators--and I'm still left with a Hack Shield Error message. Any remedies on such?

Any remedies on such?

Once again I'm not in any way affiliated with the actual development of this mod but here is what I did in detail to install and make my mods work. Hope it helps!  ;)

Follow these steps and hopefully it'll work then:
1. Uninstalling mods: Run 'Data Packer.exe', hit Remove Mods, should say 'Restored' and close. Run 'Unofficial Tiaras Uninstaller.exe', select yes to remove all the prompts. Now your mabinogi folder should be unmodded; however, files are sometimes leftover so you can delete everything in the mabinogi folder and copy and paste over your backup (make sure the backup is patched up to date first).
PS - Should run the unmodded/backup version to make sure it runs properly/can log all the way into the game (Just run 'mabinogi.exe' not 'Client.exe'. No need to run any hackshield first (should come up normally)

2. Run the installer for Tiara as admin (Unofficial Tiaras Moonshine Mod Divine Knights-V198.exe). Make sure you install directly into your Mabinogi folder (the one that has mabinogi.exe in it). Also make sure it is not creating a new folder to contain all the installed file in the mabinogi folder (mods wouldn't apply then).

3. On the selection menu for mods I suggest you check Abyss and the Logue mods (not sure if you need these for tiara to work but i'm pretty sure you do/doesn't hurt to check them). The rest you can choose yourself. (I suggest keeping the login screen Tiara icons so you can tell if the mods were applied when you run the client)

4. Hit next and the mods should start downloading into your mabinogi folder.

5. Now your installer will pull up Abyss.ini. This is the preference text file where you can toggle on and off certain mods. You can also do this in game by right clicking on the client window for options or typing in slash commands once you're in game. In this preference text file you should toggle on and off the mods you want. 1 = on and 0 = off. The mods are generally explained sufficiently in the preference file and they also explain the ones with parameters you can set. Make sure that the following is toggled on:

;Forces the Client read from the data folder before the pack files.
DataFolder=1

^If that is set to 0 then you will not have mods applied at all.

Hit save and close the file when you're done.

6. Now your installer may freeze here (that's okay) or it may pull up command prompt and run a bunch of text (this is fine too). If it freezes just simply close it via task manger (or right click close seems to work too). In either case you should then check your mabinogi folder to see if it looks like this: http://imgur.com/a/ugpIL/embed#0

If it looks like all the folders and files are in the correct places then you did step 2 correctly. If you find an extra folder where all the folders/files of the mods are in (data, autobot, data packer.exe, all the zh folders, etc.) then you did not do step 2 correctly and created a folder in your mabinogi folder. This can be fixed easily though by simply copying all the content in the created folder and pasting into the mabinogi folder (hit overwrite for all prompts). You can then delete the new folder that was made.

7. Now you run 'data packer.exe' as admin. Make sure hackshield/crackshield is not running while you're doing this (there should be no blue shield icon in your icon tray on your taskbar). Dialogue box will come up and you click 'Find'. Bunch of files path names should show up and you then hit 'Modify'. They should all say Modded now. Close the packer. Now your mods will be applied and should work.

8. Now to run the actual modded game there are two ways: 1. Run from original client launcher (mabinogi.exe not Client.exe) or 2. Run from the launcher created by the modders (_mabinogi.exe)
Either should work just fine (right click run as admin). Before you run either you MUST run 'HSlauncher.exe' in the modded folder (you must do this everytime you want to play mabi from now on). This will run crackshield which you need to login past the 2ndary password screen (should show up as a blue icon in your icon tray on your taskbar). If this is not running then you will not be able to log in once you hit the 2ndary password screen. I believe the mod also automatically install a shortcut for the HSLauncher on your desktop along with the launcher shortcuts. You can use those or simply run from the folder/pin to taskbar etc. Do not run HSUpdate.exe (you shouldn't ever need to I believe).  <-- Pretty sure this is what is messing your hackshield up (my best guess)

    A. For _mabinogi.exe (MabinLauncher Plus) (looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/BAsSRpu.png)
For 'Locale' make sure to select US:North America (This is the regional server you're trying to login to)
Make sure Server Version is the same as Local Version. If they do not match then you have not patched your Mabi with the newest patch yet. If that's so then you can hit download
patch/download language.pack to do so (you could also just run the original launcher and let it patch and then close it). Currently we're on version 199. If your versions match then
you can hit Launch and it should all work. Also this one lets you multiclient if you want to do so.

    B. For mabinogi.exe (Original Launcher) (looks like this: http://i.imgur.com/zbvnf0c.png)
Simply run the launcher and it'll automatically launch the patcher (Client.exe) and then you can hit Play. Should work then.

9. Note that crackshield will keep running once you log out of the game (can close it by clicking twice on the icon in your icon tray). Don't forget to turn it off when you apply new mods/update mods next time too.

10. If things still don't work make sure to run all the above said .exe applications as admin (right click admin) or try turning off antivirus/firewalls that may be blocking any files/programs used in the mod. You should check the settings/permissions before just simply turning the whole antivirus/firewall off. Otherwise maybe the server restart/maint yesterday messed up the current mod version (they didn't patch anything and my modded mabi works still so I doubt it's this).

11. Post a screenshot of your hackshield error message. <-- this will help the real pros figure out what's wrong

Hope it works!  ;D

I, thoroughly, appreciate your in depth reply, but your steps (basically what I originally did) didn't work for me. Note that, my firewall is off as well, so firewall problems/issues are out of the equation of why this isn't working for me. Also, when I uninstall the mods, I still get the Hackshield Error--weird huh?! To remedy this, I have to uninstall my whole Mabinogi program, files, and cache; and, re-install Mabinogi all over again, in order for the game to work. Ironically, however, the Hackshield Error only occurs whenever I try to mod my Mabinogi Folder. When the Mabinogi folder is fresh spankingly unmolested, I'm able to log in and play the game... odd.

Here is the screen shot of the Error that I get:

Are you sure you're running HSLaunch.exe/crackshield in your icon try before/while you try to log in? Did you run HSUpdate.vbs or HSUpdate.exe (you're not suppose to run these)?

Usually when there's something wrong with flag/type handler you get a 0xE9040018 (Abnormal hackshield status) or 0xE9040019 (Hacking tool detected) I believe. Your hackshield folder may be missing files or don't have the modded HS files after modding for whatever reason (maybe antivirus deleted them or quarantined them?).

I'm not really sure how to fix this but you could try to patch the HS folder again to make sure all files are there. Otherwise maybe someone has a HS folder after modding they can upload for you. You could also post some pics of what it looks like inside your HS folder for others to quickly take a look and see if you're missing files in it?

That's really all the pointers I can give you. You may have to wait for one of the actual mabimod technicians to help.

Is it in a newly created folder that itself is inside the Mabinogi folder when you installed the mods?

Could also run a search for folders named 'data' and find where it is. Chances are if you can find it then you will also find where your mod files were all placed. You can then simply copy and paste it all into the Mabinogi folder then. In theory this will work as long as you copy the files in the correct directory tree form. But if you're not sure it's better to delete the mod files just reinstall the mods in the right selected mabinogi directory again; again make sure you're not making a new folder. For example, if your mabinogi folder is 'C:\Nexon\Mabinogi\' then make sure the install location says 'C:\Nexon\Mabinogi\' not 'C:\Nexon\Mabinogi\mabinogi'. <--- your mod files would be all installed in this new 'mabinogi' folder, which you would have to move to 'Mabinogi' to make the mods work properly.

Or it is possible some antivirus decided to delete/quarantine the files thinking they were dangerous (probably unlikely but something you could check).

^ There was an update today. When the game is updated mods may not work until a patch is released by the actual mod creator.

EDIT: Actually Tiara is fully functional it would seem even after the Rejuvinogi Update.

I'm not getting any hackshield errors

Try restarting your client and see if the problem still is there. Otherwise maybe you can go to your mabinogi folder>package folder> and delete language.pack. Then run the client and it should patch again and check files again. See if it works after that?

I'm having the same headless issue after a fresh install with the 190 installer pack. I'll try the language pack delete and see what happens. Also want to add that all skills are gone as well.

Edit: No change after deleting Language pack and patching. Gonna remove all mods until more info is out.

Some of my friend have been having issues too. They tried to patch the modded client normally and it wouldn't work or had performance issues. Then they tried patching the normal client and played mabinogi just fine. After that they tried playing the modded version and it worked fine again??

Not sure what's going on o  .o;;

Personally I just patched my modded version and played it just fine.

So I removed mods and uninstalled Tiara and Hackshield wouldn't launch. I tried removing version.dat and the package files, but now it won't patch at all. Not sure what the problem is but I'm going to try a fresh installation and hope for the best. Will let you guys know in a couple hours after I'm up and running again.

I have the headless glitch as well until I remove Tiara. However, some people with Tiara are still able to play Mabi. I am thinking that one of the options in Tiara is causing the glitch. If we can find out which, that would solve the issue.

I considered that as well and unchecked all mods that involve characters that I could find and changed fonts. Still had the same issue after deleting Mabi folder and reinstalling altogether. Made a full backup of the working folder this time though so I may troubleshoot different mods tomorrow. Done messing with it for today though. Good luck to any others that try, see you tomorrow. :)

Rename your data folder to something else to see if it's Tiara mods.

If it is, then rename various folders inside that (so they don't get used) and use the process of elimination to see which folder is causing it.

It's something in local. I deleted the reforge mod and the other one since neither are worth no head and items.
I also deleted the whole dang local folder. Don't forget to "Remove Mods"  "Find" "Modify" in the data packer after punting that darn file.

Now you could check farther to see which file in cutscenes/drama2/ is causing the error, but personally I wouldn't bother considering the mods in that folder are outdated and rarely touched until a generation comes out and cutting scenes is highly requested or needed like now which I plan to add, but not necessarily for your problem, which is why the exact file helps me to understand files that need updated regardless of scans I do when updating, which I obviously haven't yet, so details like this and headlessness get fixed then, when I do the work or others narrow down the problem with process of elimination.

Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth" ― Wizard's First Rule

sorry my first guess was wrong. i relogged and my head rolled. it was in the local folder. there was only 2 things in there and one was the true-reforge thing and the other had like book titles when I opened it in notepad. I had just edited that post XD

my backup of data folder says the things I deleted were

code folder:
empty

xml folder:
itemmetalrealview.english.txt
skillinfo.english.txt

After a bit of elimination I removed the Empty mod and Visualchat/Real reforge mods and all is well now. Didn't need to delete any files after unchecking these culprits. Thanks for the help guys!

Alternatively wouldn't running UOTiaraPack.bat help verify mod files?
