Nexon has recently updated Mabinogi to a 64 bit client. This update has broken many mods in memory patchers for the time being. The mod creators are working hard to essentially rebuild all mods from scratch, and this process will take some time. Please be patient, and stay tuned for more updates.

I have the same exact problem as m00c0w, adding the program/files to the DEP list did not help either

Of course it wouldn't, default DEP settings aren't a barrier to the client.

Go to your client folder, delete everything, reinstall clean client, attempt to run.
If it works, then you know the problem is your mods, if not, then it's your set up.

Mod breaks doki doki island event (cannot accept soulmates and for some reason even after uninstalling i cant get the event quests)

Same for you, delete everything, retry with clean install.

Yeah, it's Abyss messing up the client since it works fine with just Tiara installed; was just wondering if anyone had a fix for it

Im using ONLY abyss and the game is working fine, including doki doki, having issues with tiara, chance they might be conflicting with each other and it not have to do with the game itself in some sense

Let me rephrase that. *Messing up my client* I'm not sure about Tiara but there have been reports that Abyss doesn't work for some people after a windows update and there is no fix for it yet

Tiara most likely has not been updated for the new doki doki island event.

I've been out of town for a week and have not checked, but looking at the professors report and other posts it looks like just the local/XML translations were done as usual that don't cause crashes and features.xml.compiled that does cause crashes, but only for the uo tiara users that install risky mods.

Since I've gotten back into Mabi recently, I probably wouldn't have minded throwing together a folder update if I knew you were gone.
But I wouldn't have done the installer or anything. Just a delete/replace type thing. Since updating is ez :v

(Though personally I don't use tiara, I use a different data folder with my own edits/additions.)

People can uninstall it when I can't update it and they are unable too troubleshoot.
Typically I frown upon people that release their own patches for uo tiara instead of just being patient because no one can do the installer the same or some of the more tedious tasks like decompiling features.xml and because things will get unintentionally overlooked.

This is why asking is a thing.
Just gonna keep updating my own shit per usual.
Glad you're back though, watching people struggle with simple tasks gives me headaches.

I'm not back yet; just figured I would take the time to say the crashes could be uo tiara as well for certain users.

Assume it's a minor glitch with your installer.  Supposed to pick an install directory.  I picked an existing directory and it took me back to the directory confirmation, ie C:\Nexon\Mabinogi.  At that screen, i typed in an additional \Temp at the end of the directory, so it would create a new folder and all files would go directly in there, note not that listed directory, that was just an example.

Told it to extract desired files, it went through the process.  It finished, and there was no folder or files.  I double-checked the directory i had designated, then went to C:\Nexon to look and make sure it didn't create a mabinogi directory for some reason, that's not where my mabinogi is installed fyi.  No files there either.  And in case it somehow thought i deleted everything in the directory specification but the \Temp, i checked for a C:\Temp and the desktop and neither had the folder/files.

Actually went back and had to redo the downloads to get my files. It's possible that i screwed up the directory somehow, but given how i went about it, i don't see how i would have managed that, and i also can't find the files either.  So i'm assuming there were no files.

what your describing isn't possible.
i'm assuming it's this message your getting which tries to prevent you from installing into a directory other then one with client.exe
Code: [Select]
IfFileExists "$INSTDIR\Client.exe" ClientFound ClientNotFound
ClientNotFound:
MessageBox MB_YESNO|MB_ICONEXCLAMATION "Error: $INSTDIR\Client.exe was not found!$\nWould you like to continue anyway?" IDYES yes
Quit
yes:
ClientFound:
IfFileExists "$INSTDIR\Data" DataFound DataNotFound
DataFound:
MessageBox MB_YESNO "Do you want to delete your \Data\ folder to ensure your updated?" IDNO nodel
CopyFiles "$INSTDIR\Data" "$INSTDIR\DataBackup"
RMDir /r "$INSTDIR\Data"
DataNotFound:
the installer has no choice but to use the directory you've chosen, but since your saying it didn't; i can only assume that you mistakenly chose 'no' thus canceling the install.

Well, it downloaded things, i watched the install messages.  It went through the steps, even if i saw no results.  So i can only assume it went into some temp folder, in which they may currently be or it has already been wiped.  I know windows does use temp folders to move things around at what i would call odd times, though i can't say specifically when.

Search for a file that you know would have been placed in that folder if you want to check whether they were deployed somewhere or not.

Yeah, it's Abyss messing up the client since it works fine with just Tiara installed; was just wondering if anyone had a fix for it

Is that with Tiara packed into a pack file, or just in the data folder?

If the latter, then you're actually using a clean client, since Abyss forces data folder reading.

If you think you're having a problem with the installer you could also just:

If that's for me, i did get it working.  Simply created the new folder then extracted to the folder, rather than attempt to have the extractor create the folder.

Search for a file that you know would have been placed in that folder if you want to check whether they were deployed somewhere or not.

I actually have search disabled at the moment, so i'd rather avoid that step.  I do have the files i wanted though, that's all i really care about.

I have UT and Abyss installed with no issues in 193 other than a few translations. I have mine setup so I can run with mods or vanilla which is handy when there are problems. I used the Nexon launcher which doesn't use the standard c:\nexon\mabinogi folder. This created the vanilla install. Then I copied the contents into the c:\nexon\mabinogi which I installed UT into. Yeah it's extra space used on my drive but now I can easily run mabi with or without mods when they update stuff. Saves me a lot of frustration of not being able to play when there's problems.

or you could just place ilj15.dll and dinput8.dll on your desktop then rename ilj15.dat to ilj15.dll when you want to run vanilla

Yeah but when nexon pushes a patch, seems like stuff breaks so I do it the hard way to keep them in separate folders all together.

It seems like update_autobot.exe doesn't want to work.

It creates AutoBot3.8.9.192.rar, deletes it and then opens AutoBot.exe which asks me if I want to do this again.

I'm using the steam version of the game.
